I continue to make new Headcanons as I rewatch Buffy!! I’m on season two already. I just watched episode eight: The Dark Age. So Giles and his friends used to summon this demon, Eyghon, to get high. Ancient people who worshipped this same demon summoned him for bacchanals and orgies, according to Willow’s research. I’ve now decided that Giles and his friends were having orgies and he and Ethan Rayne have definitely fucked!! Who else thinks so?!

Parallels. Jenny says that to Giles when she's possessed by Eyghon (Eyghon says it, actually). And Angel inflicts that whole nightmare on Buffy after he loses his soul and becomes Angelus again, (so it might be more fair to say Angelus did it not him, which would of course drive the parallel home even stronger).

The Dark Age

I don’t particularly like The Dark Age, but the fight scene between Angelus and Eyghon is fantastic. It reminds us that a vampire retains the human vessel as a means of transporting the demon. With his soul, the man has more control, but like the wolf in Oz, the demon is still inside of Angel. This is our first real glimpse at Angelus, foreshadowing his eventual emergence.

re: Jenny, I think it's because Eyghon possessed her. When she was unconscious, she wasn't aware of anything happening, but being possessed by Eyghon, I think she was able to see what was happening but couldn't do anything about it.. in the comics, Angel learns a lot about Giles via possession , so Jenny probably learned a lot of bad stuff about Giles via Eyghon.

Ya know, I never thought about that last part. It would make sense that you would learn about a person by possessing them, or learn about their motives by being possessed by Eyghon.

All these things fro The Dark Age on my dash has me wondering..

Is there a gifset floating around tumblr of the "flashback/montage" , of Giles 'ripper' days, that appears a few times in the episode? I always thought that was a pretty cool visual but it happens so fast it's hard to really get a good look at it.
