A Serpent’s Tale

”I suppose its about time I’m honest with you all.. so you can hear my side of the story instead of just what those files say...”

Priestess Ezeria Alchez was the clutch-sister to the queen at the time, and served as the High Priestess, a sort of equivalent to the human Pope, a religious and spiritual leader.

When the Elders approached her before invading the world they gave her a chance to spare her people from a war... “Lead your flock into our faith and you shall be spared the coming war, your kind will ascend beyond, and you will become the immortal Priestess...”

Ezeria, tempted by the promise, proclaimed she had a vision from the gods, they would be sending envoys to the people to ascend them... for the longest time this was how the Elders got away with abductions on the Azaril homeworld, what you now call Vipers.People were excited when someone dissipeared, for it meant they had been chosen, had ascended.

This went on until the Elders finally were assured the Azaril did not contain the cure they sought, so then Ezeria, now having been granted the gift of an unnaturally extended lifespan, proclaimed another vision...

The Gods needed our help to spread the faith across the universe, to ascend other species as well.. our reward for our battles would be great.. 

And thus the Azaril fought for the Elders as crusaders of a sort, religious warriors seeking to ‘save’ the worlds they conquered in the name of the gods...

Earth was the great crusade...

The Priestess was used to manipulate a Human organization that was enemies with the humans that fought so hard to stop us...

The Priestess received the location of XCOM’s headquarters from XALT, and delivered this information to the Elders...

She... lead the assault, ordering the wholesale slaughter of these heathens that had offended the gods...

The Battle was quick...

And when it was won, when it was realized by the Elders about the possibility of the chips, of their long-sought cure...

Ezeria proclaimed to the Azaril, that now their reward was at hand.. they all came to receive their reward... only to be made now fully into salves.. stripped of free will..

The Priestess was no longer needed now with her flock under the control of the network... and so they disposed of her.. striped her of all they had granted her.. even as she pleaded to be spared the fate of her sisters for her loyalty to the Elders... even as like a coward she pledged she would remain loyal if only they let her remain free... Even as...

Even as she selfishly... renounced her own kind... all to try to save herself...

In the end she became just another Viper soldier in the field...

A tool of the Elders... that had outlived its usefulness...
