Twisted Wonderland OC

This amazing art art of my character was made by @ezroar​ 

(I highly recommend giving them a follow, they make phenomenal art and I definitely think Y’all will enjoy it!)

Now then, I’d say its time I showed off the details about my boy, once again, hope y’all enjoy learning about him!

Appearance:

Zoroaster is a tall boy with dark brown skin and playful golden eyes resting upon his angular face. His expression is usually easy going and playful. Often displaying a playful grin or an energetic smirk against his lips. Resting atop his head is a nappy black-silver Afro, bound in a pair of emerald- gold goggles which sit in his hair. His body frame is rather broad and lanky, wide in the shoulders and thin with his arms and torso. Usually he’s seen wearing a black-high collard suit with emerald designs arcing across the fabric, as below this he wears an emerald waist coat with black designs. And wrapped around his neck is a gold tie that is clipped within an emerald band that resembles a shadowed face. While around his waist is an emerald gold sash that drapes atop his left leg.  And finally the rest of his outfit consists of a pair of black trousers and dress shoes.

Personality:

In a summary he’s a showman, eccentric, chaotic, inquisitive and a truthful schemer. Though in more detail, he’s very expressive with every movement, snapping and swaying with every step and gesture as if he’s overflowing with energy and putting on a constant performance. And as for his eccentricity, this connects with what’s shown above.  He’s very much a grand showman with everything he does and rarely cares for what others think of him.  And if they have a smart comment or tease, he’ll answer back twice as hard, if he’s strange so be it, at least he’s himself.  

Now onto inquisitive, Zoroaster despite his seemingly uncaring and wild personality, he’s very intelligent, often you see about his room besides the tons of parts and gears scattered everywhere are stacks of books.  He loves to learn about any and everything, especially when its in relation to magic.  He’s a giant nerd about it if I were to be honest, and this profound curiosity helps him so much with his unique magic, but information on that comes later.  For now, here’s more information about truthful schemer. Zoroaster is a very truthful person and doesn’t usually (if at all) holds his tongue. Which, is often very sharp, if he thinks something he’ll definitely say it, no matter your position or how much you demand respect he will speak his mind, much less, he never lies, if you ask him a thing, he will tell you the truth no questions asked.  And for schemer, he is also very tricky, he’s a wizard, always having some getaway or plan or workaround up his sleeves somewhere. He won’t lie to you, but he never said he’d never have something hidden just in case.  Chaotic doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a plan.

Unique Magic: Emerald City:

From Zoroaster he releases a ring of emerald smoke to a certain range depending on how much magic he’s using. Within this ring it’s as if this is his very own city and he decides what goes, basically within this  ring, whatever comes to his mind he can spawn it to happen. Want zero gravity, he can do it, want soldiers made of earth, he can do that as well.  Zoroaster can do whatever he can imagine within this ring but if someone leaves this area of effect,the creations disappear instantly, as if the effects were noting but a mere illusion.

Backstory:

Zoroaster grew up among a family of liars, thieves, swindlers, and illusionists, robbing people of their money and livelihoods with lies and falsehoods. They taught him the business and tried to force the tradition on him.  But to Zoroaster he always hated it, he never agreed to this way of doing things, He saw people crushed and destroyed by these deals and his family just went about as if nothing bad had ever happened. So he in turn went the direct opposite of his family’s ways, he told the truth, exposed them during tricks and instead of them striking against him. or even kicking him out, they just ostracized him.  Ignored him, treated him as if he didn’t exist, no one looked at him, spoke to him, touched him or anything.  For as far as they were concerned he didn’t exist nor was he apart of the family.  Scarring him more than any beating could have, he became paranoid and through that, he ran away.

It’s during this journey of running away, he began his persona of the wizard, a person who could make whatever you required come true if you only asked.  While he did have to steal from time to time to survive, he did his best to help people with whatever he had.  Most of the time them being thrown away parts and pieces of parts, which gave him his love of building.  And while he kept doing his thing, he eventually came across a person he would later call his sister, who taught him how to use magic and he in return taught her how to fight due to her sheltered life.  

Trivia:

His name is one of the many middle names Oscar Diggs(The Wizard of Oz) has, specifically its the first of the many

The reason his name is so long is a reference to the wizard”s long name: Oscar Zoroaster Phadrig Isaac Norman Henkle Emmannuel Ambroise Diggs

Zoroaster is the wizard inverted, whereas the wizard had no magic, Zoroaster has phenomenal amounts of magic at his disposal. And he also doesn’t lie to people

Zoroaster did keep a few things from the wizard, most notably he kept how the wizard often answered people’s requests if they came to him. And he loves to build machines and weave magic into them.  Oh and he does have a top hat but he doesn’t wear it much, Crowley alone ruined his liking of top hats

Zoroaster is Ramshackle’s official dorm leader, but Yuu is still prefect over it. Though this was more due to Crowley losing a bet with the new dorm head where Crowley now has to address him by his full name for a month, and Yuu has to allow Yuu to stay within the dorm if he lost. 

Zoroaster often roasts or insults Crowley and even has a gracious counter for how many time the headmaster has said the word. And he threatens him that the more he says the word, the more times he’s gonna hit him with his cane

Crowley reminds Zoro too much of his family at times so the headmaster easily gets under his skin

Before he came to the academy, his cane was what he used to regulate his magic and his blot, the cane’s handle held a crystal within it and often times during school you often see him using it in conjunction to his pen.

Zoroaster”s best friend or rather sister as he would call her, is based on the goodwitch from the wizard of oz

Once he started going to NRC he reopened his business so to speak, and allowed people to come to his dorm room in case they needed to request something of him.  Though this probably left him and Azul have a strained dynamic since he is doing Azul’s thing but for free for the most part

🎂💎 Happy Birthday Ez! 💎🎂

Apart from own, this squiggle meister shared this very jubilant June birthday month with two fantabulous Rosebuds, including this fellow Gem that I made this for. A belated birthday present to my fellow Rosebud @ezroar | @ezroar-blog

As promised, here is my gift to you fam. I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to gift you so I decided to follow the trend and squiggle my take on a little portrait of your rose: Dia Galatea. It’s my first time drawing her in my style and for the most part it was pretty cool (I failed in getting the crystal effect on her hair though. Sorry ^^;). 

For this piece I challenged myself to do something I haven’t attempted in years which is squiggle paint. I haven’t done that since 2017 and for this, I took the challenge a step further and decided to try painting in this style on my Ipad Mini.

I started the piece with a sketch done in good ole Paint Tool Sai II then sent it over to my Ipad where I did most of the rendering for the painting in Artstudio Pro. This program needs more love since it’s really awesome.

You can see part of my process right there in the video. I did end up bringing the piece back into Sai to finish it. But overall, this was a cool experiment and for the most part, I’m satisfied with how this turned out and above all, I hope you like it Ez. Hope your special balloon day was at least fun this year all things considered and a happy birthday to you once again!

I saw your post about 'Shipping the Ace Ops' and ngl, I kinda ship Robyn Hill and Clover Ebi. I feel like they at least knew each other in the academy but their paths separated once they graduated, Clover joined the military while Robyn sought her own path, and now they have this dynamic where Clover is the Sheriff of Nottingham to Robyn's, well, Robin Hood.

Y'know what’s funny Ez? Great minds do think alike because I was just about to make a follow up post to my ‘Shipping the Aces’ with the same idea. I’m thinking of shipping Robyn with Clover now too. Only I was looking at it as, what if…Robin Hood was already in a long-term committed relationship with Sheriff Nottingham (soon to be engaged) ; however Nottingham didn’t know that Robin was secretly the leader of the Merry Men who the Sheriff has been trying to bring into custody?

 Imagine…Clover considering himself the luckiest man on Remnant since he gets to be the partner of the charismatic, talented, lovely Robyn Hill—leader of the Happy Huntresses (*snorts*). But imagine…Robyn and Clover being forced to keep their relationship private due to all the politics surrounding Atlas and itsexploitation on Mantle, especially in the heat of the elections. Imagine how much flak Robyn might get in the public eyes if her supporters discovered that her boyfriend is one of Ironwood’s personal attack dogs—much less the leader of it. Imagine if…Robyn and Clover’s relationship is one where despite Clover being perfectly supportive of Robyn and her cause along with her running for Councilman, Robynn isn’t comfortable with them coming out about theirrelationship—at least not until after the Elections were over. So thingsbetween them are left private although it’s clear that Clover wants more.

Imagine…Clover also being unaware of Robyn’s double life. Like what if…the people of Atlas, including the military, merely see Robyn and her rallied supporters as nothing more than radical protestors when in actuality the Happy Huntresses led by Robyn are rogue thieves who fight back against exploitation of Mantle by taking back what should rightfully belong to their kingdom—stealing from the rich (SDC) to return it back to the poor it was stolen from in the first place (Mantle).

Imagine if… Robyn’s relationship with Clover started out just as you said. What if…they knew each other since Atlas Academy days?  Perhaps they were even on the same huntsmen team once upon a time— Team CLVR because… obviously— and were even sweethearts since those days. But while Clover went on the join the military, Robyn wanted to dedicate her time to doing more for Mantle since it’s probably her hometown. Her hood, if you will.

Picture…Clover being head over heels in love with Robyn. Wanting to marry her even. Make a life for them both up in the Clouds especially after she becomes Councilman.

But that all goes to shit when the truth eventually comes out. The theme for this season of RWBY seems about trust in love. So we can either have a love story where Robyn and Clover were once together-together but ultimatelyfell apart due to their differing career paths but they soon reunite on thebattlefield with the rekindled love they shared for each other resurfacing andmaking them question their choices.

Or…we can have a love story where we have a couple who love each other more than anything but their differing paths inclusive of one of them leading a secret double life of lies and thievery, threatens to potentially destroy the love the couple built together over years of devotion and trust.

Like just picture Robyn and Clover caught at crossroad where Clover learns that Robyn is a criminal and he’s the one forced to bring her to justice.

Either one of these ideas can work although I quite like yours Ez. All in all, I dig it. Well I did say that I don’t ship Clover with anyone on his team since I believe his partner is not in the military. Robyn fits that bill just right. It’s official. I ship it now.  But what would we call the ship for Robyn and Clover?  Is it odd that I kind of wanna dub it ‘Cops & Robbers’?

That can work, right? Yay or nay?

I had an idea. What if Neo was the Red Fox from the Little Prince? Neo could easily disguise herself as an Atlesian student with red hair and as a faunus. Her semblance can connect to the symbolism of foxes being tricksters. She spends her time in the academy, getting close to Oscar. She could even give Oscar help in wooing Ruby to gain his trust. Oscar does have some parallels with Torchwick as well, namely the cane(-fu) and the coat. Your thoughts?

Hmm, well I did once share a theory that kind of touched based on this idea. Kind of. I’m for the idea of Neo meeting Oscar but with her shapeshifting and illusionary abilities and him not fully knowing that she’s an old enemy of the heroes, Neo slowly worms her way into the group by pretending to be a newfriend of Oscar’s. I’m for Neo befriending Oscar to use him at first but then she genuinely learns to like him in the end. The only difference is that I don’t see Neo as the Fox. I’m more banking on her being the General Jinjur from the Oz side of Oscar’s influence. Since Oscar is additionally based on Tip/Princess Ozma from the Marvellous Land of Oz.  

In the Marvellous Land of Oz, General Jinjur worked with the Wicked Witch Mombi to strike a mutiny that overthrew the Tin Man who ruled that part of Oz. In the end, after Tip is revealed as Ozma, the rightful heir to Oz, it is Ozma who expunges Jinjur of her crimes on the grounds that she ‘be a good girl’ and never cause trouble again.

That was the relationship I saw Oscar and Neo having. If you’d like to read the full theory post, check out my RWBY Musing #73 right here. I saw Neo more as General Jinjur due to their similarities and I still see that. If I had to choose analready pre-established character to be the Fox is Oscar’s Little Prince story,my money is on Nora Valkyrie, not Neopolitan. Nora already has a bond with Oscar which I think is destined to grow as I strongly believe Oscar is being set up to join Jaune, Nora and Ren and revive Team JNPR.

I know Neo can shapeshift to look like a red-head. Not sure about the Faunus part, though. Since we haven’t seen Neo shift to anything but human characters, not sure about her appearing as Faunus. Anyways, Neo may have trickster abilities, however Nora is a natural red head and her personality better embodies that of the Fox from the Little Prince for me more than Neo.

It’s not so much that the Fox teaches the Prince how to woo his Rose. The Fox teaches the Prince about the taming of the heart—the importance of establishing ties and creating meaningful bonds that are significant to you.

Before meeting the Fox, the Prince travelled outside of his world and discovered a garden full of Roses no different than the Rose he had left behind. Back home on his planet, the Prince had a Rose who had led him to believe that she was rare and the only one of her kind in existence in the entire universe. The Rose had led the Prince to believe that she was his own special Rose so it greatly disappointed and upset the Prince that she had deceived him. Because of this, the Prince didn’t feel special to the Rose because rather than having a unique flower, all he had was just a common Rose.

I really like the lasting message that the Fox left on the Prince because he taught him how much his Rose meant to him. She may not be the only Rose in the universe but the Prince’s Rose was special to him. She was the one who had tamed his heart just as how he had tamed hers and because of that, they were responsible for each other.

I can see Nora teaching Oscar this important lesson using her relationship and history with Ren as a primary example. If anything, Nora and Ren have already tamed each other’s hearts. Because of their connected past and all that they went through together to get where they are, Renora are the embodiment of the Fox’s message. They are unique to each other. Responsible for each other since in each other’s eyes, they are what is most important.

It’s very rare that we get to see Nora have moments where she’s allowed to impose wisdom on another but that doesn’t mean she isn’t capable.  

I can definitely see Nora helping Oscar to understand his feelings for Ruby and what they truly mean to him as a potential opportunity to also strengthen their bond. It’s a cute chance to show Nora being a big sister figure to Oscar by teaching him about love, life and bonds.

Sorry Ez. Neo’s an ok candidate but…Nora wins as the Fox in Oscar’s story for me. Granted that the CRWBY Writers actually plan on incorporating the Fox’s lesson into Oscar’s Little Prince story while using a pre-established character already close to Oscar.

Seeing how the CRWBY Writers bypassed Emerald and Adam to bring back Neo as Cinder’s partner for Atlas. Even though these two were already part of the Mistral Arc since V4 and even though Emerald already shared close ties withCinder Fall. Yeah seeing how the Writers like to pull stunts like that, I thinkwe’re more likely to get a totally new character to play The Fox. Granted that that story is told for Oscar’s side of things—if it’s actually developed on-screen this time. Pardon the saltiness. I’m still griping about V6.

But yeah, that’s my answer. I can see Neo being added to Oscar’s side of things. Just not as the Fox. My bets on her being the Jinjur to his Tip/Princess Ozma.

So, I wanted to announce, I've decided to create a looooonnnnnggggggg comic based on the Bouquet of Roses AU. I've already done the basic outline of the 1st chapter and about to move onto the script. This is going to take months to complete but hopefully I'll get there.

A long comic based on the Bouquet of Roses AU, you say?

Words alone cannot fathom how beyond awesome that sounds Ez. Thanks for sharing your announcement and thanks for taking an interest in the Bouquet to begin this big project of yours. I’m excited to see how it all blossoms in the end and I cannot wait to read it once it’s complete :D
