Soojung sits.
She breathes in, fingers curled together in her lap in an effort to calm herself. Her head bowed, allowing her hair to cover her face. Her aching heart, the thoughts that linger on her mind… She hates them. She knows this shouldnt-she shouldnt-she doesn’t have the ‘right’ to feel this way.
But again, she couldnt help it. Not when it plays repeatedly; Jongin’s laugh at Jinri’s innocent silliness, the few seconds said male dropped his guard to tease her innocently—the sweetest smiles he directed at her when Jinri didn’t notice and he himself, Soojung thinks, didn’t realize sporting.
(Some how, the genuinity and innocence of jongin makes it hurt even more)
Knocking her temple onto the glass window, Soojung inwardly begs at the feeling to go away. It’s not like Jongin was hers-heck, they’re not even friends. No, even being ‘acquaintance’ with the boy already a miracle on its own. Yet it doesn’t make it hurt anyless.
Why? She wonders. Why does it turn out like this, why should he do that, why did she have to SEE that?!
She chokes out a silent sob, eyes squeezing so hard as her heart twist painfully its going to burst.
It hurts so much. Soojung just want it to stop hurting. She doesn’t want to feel so much for Jongin anymore, why won’t her heart listen to her. It /hurts/.
Jinri’s her best friend, Soojung really shouldn’t feel this way about her. God, when did she become so dark inside.
“excuse me,” a voice called, “Kid, this is the last stop.”
Warily, Soojung looks up. Outside, its already dark and, looking behind her, the previously crowded bus is now empty.
"Im sorry," she breathes, quietly standing up from her seat. "Ill get going, ahjussi. Thank you."
"No problem," ahjussi stares curiously, not impolitely. Is this girl going to be fine, he probably thought. Her saddened eyes belied her indifference expression; the thing she does when she doesn’t want anyone’s pity.
"Be careful," He said thoughtfully. “Neh,” she bows a little, showing her gratification. . . . . . Much later, when she’s in bed, hair wet from the cold shower (maybe it could freeze her up enough so she wouldn’t feel anything but cold), and really, really alone, she cries.
She cries and cries because she knows no one will hear, no one will come to comfort her nor judge her for it.
Once exhausted, she falls asleep.
