Voodoo update!
The filling on the wings isn’t perfect, but it’s as perfect as it’s gonna get. And since it was spring already for a day here, I did get to throw down a base coat. As I’m plugging along, there are a few seams and fit issues, but I’m realizing this old kit (1985) is never going to be up to modern standards. The nose is simply smaller than the fuselage. I should be able to hide that when doing the final paint.
Ok, there are gaps. There are definitely gaps.
Workbench Wednesday for the New Year!
Before Christmas I won a bid on this old kit, Monogram Cf-101 Voodoo in 1/48. When I was a kid, maybe 14 or 15, I picked up this same kit from Joe’s Hobby in Detroit. This one is labeled copyright 1990, but it suspect the moulds are quite a bit older than that.
My first order of business was to mark all of the raised panel lines in pencil, then go at it with the x-acto and scribe them all, then sand them off.
In a power move by Monogram, step 2, before the cockpit is even made, is to glue the fuselage together. I’ve gotta say, this fit like an absolute champ. Built the wing assembly too, and it also fit beautifully. I was honestly surprised by how well it is fitting together.
Aircraft designs I like:
