Workbench Wednesday: Actual Wednesday Edition.
Dug this townhouse out of the closet and started laying card tiles on the roof.
Also, I’m finished scribing the panel lines on the RF-84F.

Workbench Wednesday: Vintage Edition.
I wanted to knock out a quickie, so it’s the original 1983 boxing of the MPC A-Wing snap together kit. I also have a 1990 re-issue boxing. The 83 kit has tinted clear parts vs the straight clear parts in the re-issue. I had built this one once before when I was in high school, and always wanted another.
Workbench Wednesday.
Putting some miniature roof up. So far so good.
Workbench Wednesday.
More base for roofing this week.
Been picking away on this for about a year and a half. I just don’t see a way to keep it a reasonable size, so eff it, let’s go for it.
Workbench Wednesday: Just go with it.
Sit Rep on the Hun: The kit decals crumbled as they were being applied. So I shelved the kit whilst waiting for the replacement decals to ship from Australia. Still waiting for those decals, and that was a year ago. I ended up ordering another set of replacement decals, which have since arrived. So, I jumped into the Thunderbirds decals again, and the very first decal crumbled. I’m more than a bit disheartened by the continued setbacks. However, I refuse to buy a fourth set of decals, I’m not build a $200 model here. So I’m going to be cutting the decals into small pieces and fitting them together like a jigsaw puzzle, and touch up paint anything bare. Hopefully it works out, because I love the build and the underlying paintjob.
In the meantime, since these decals will take a week or two, I’ve started working on this Heller F-84 during the down time. It’s an old raised panel kit, so I’m starting by scribing all of the panel lines, and sanding off the raised lines. That’ll take a while too.
Workbench Wednesday: Roden T-28.
I’ve been somewhat surprised by the Roden T-28, in that it actually goes together pretty well for a low run kit. The manual has been rubbish, but I’ve built hundreds of kits so I can figure it out. The exhaust was the only part that Doesn’t make any sense at all, so it will be hidden by flat black paint.
Decals however, have totally stunk. Every single one was brittle and cracked in the water, or when being pulled. After the second decal, I went to ebay to try and find a replacement set. None could be found though. I guess there is no money in decal sets for limited run kits. So I had to push through and make them work, by piecing them back together on the kit. I’m missing a few pieces here and there, will have to try and fix in paint. The decals are thin too, the white is too transparent over the orange. Not much I can do about that on the lettering. On the roundels on the wings, I’m double layering the insignia, so I’ve had to dip into the spares box for more insignia.
Up next is clear coat, weathering, and building the landing gear.
Workbench Wednesday: Thursday Edition.
Until I get some good light, these will do. I tried to do a realistic spacing between planes, and even though I’m probably tight, the end product is huge. About 30 inches wingtip to wingtip.
