YOOO GOT THAT RICK AND MORTY OC BACKSTORRRY? 👀
Ok yes! Time for a long lore text post
(This is for my F-310 r&m ocs the dnd ones)
I’ll start off with Rick!
In this dimension Rick and Diane get married and have Beth so typical stuff, I’ll note however that Diane is a Elf ( high elf specifically) so this makes Beth a half elf and morty & summer like ? Quarter elf lol. Diane does die in this dimension but it’s a little bit before Beth’s 15th birthday. I won’t specify how this happens yet because I wanna make a little comic of it! Anyways after Diane’s death Rick gets more and more reclusive and into his work, being a chronurgy wizard he becomes obsessed with the concept of going back to the accident and somehow altering the course of events, but as time between the event and the present day stretch on it becomes more and more out of reach. He starts going out on longer and longer journeys leaving Beth for the most part unattended, in his mind he justifies this as if he can find a way to bring Diane back Beth will forgive him for being absent. This goes on until one day he just doesn’t come back, Beth assumes he either died or completely abandoned her. Years go by she settles with Jerry and they have the kids ( I’ll explain more about Jerry and Beth in this dimension in a different post). Eventually Rick resurfaces around the time Morty is 8ish, he tracks the Smith family down to their current home and apologizes to Beth for the years of abandonment. Their relationship was and still is rocky with Beth not fully trusting Rick but agreeing that she wants him close and in her life again. Anyways!! This is when he meets Morty and starts to mentor him ^^
As stated above he meets Rick around 8, at first he’s pretty wary of him just due to things Beth would say. But slowly warms up to him and takes an interest in all the stuff he’s collected like the tomes, trinkets, and other stuff from his travels. While Morty is still so young Rick will just show him little things and silly magic like simple cantrips. Or he’ll talk about his adventures and the things he encountered, so nothing too dangerous while Morty is littl. But as soon as Rick starts to feel comfortable back in a family unit he starts to project a lot of his past anxiety surrounding loss onto Morty and puts up a detached and rough front for the family. When Morty gets a little older (around current In show age) Rick starts to train him in earnest not going easy on him at all, this obviously exhausts Morty. But he needs that parental figure attention and validation so he keeps going even at his expense. However since he has elf ancestry from Diane this makes him more in tune with magic and he picks up basic magic a little easier. Further down the line Morty decides that he wants to pursue being a cleric he really wants to adventure out with Rick but thinks with his current skill set (and lack of chronurgy spell mastery) he’d just be a hinderance. So he mostly is a life cleric but knows some chronurgy spells from Rick. ^^
Aaa to wrap up their dynamic is basically
Rick needs Morty to be better than he was and prepared for anything that might happen so he pushes him to some extremes. At the end of the day Rick is just terrified about the concept of losing more people (and especially his little buddy) and hopes Morty can be strong enough to prevent anything he himself can’t. And Morty not really realizing this thinks Rick is just constantly disappointed in him for not being as skilled or powerful as he hoped his grandson would be hjshsh.
Ok that’s all for now! This was very surface level stuff but I have alOT hyehehe
