The Great Wars: The Beginning

The Wars in Brief

The Great Wars lasted nearly 1000 years, and by the time it was over countless lives were lost. Entire species of Elementals were gone, their lives and cultures whipped out. The Great war was a fight between Humans’s and Elementals,(now called Demons.) The great war was actually many wars and disputes over a 1000 year span. There had always been a tentative peace between the two and squabbles would break out, but it would settle quickly, only to pick back up again. It was only after a 300 year peace broke, that the last 100 years of the of the Great War was were the most damage was done. This whole span of time was called the Great War

Beginning The War of Light

Both sides tired of the fighting agreed that peace must come to both sides. The 6 human tribes send their leaders and the Elementals in turn sent 7 clan leaders from the largest clans. This peace agreement was called The Oath of The 13. In order to instil understanding and peace the elementals agreed to teach humans in the way of magic, and healing but they would not share how to control the elements except to those who they thought worthy. For 3 hundred years the Oath of the 13 was honored, for humans that was 3 lifetimes but for most Elementals that was hardly a speck in their timelines, as most elementals could live to be 1000s of years old.

Some Humans upset at being turned away by the Elementals and not being able to learn all their magic, started their own religious order The Knights of Light. They believed all sacred magic should be taught to the humans whether or not they were worthy. A couple Elementals (Awleo An Owl Elemental being the first and strongest became The Knights personal teacher) agreed to share their knowledge not realising that they Knights of Light were planning on using the power to gain political power and push their new religious dogma.

Once The Knights took over many of the human Kingdoms and Tribes their teachings took hold over the old ones. This new Religion was called The Divine Light, and followed the teachings of The leader of the Knights of Light. Kain Uriel was the leader of the Knights after being turned away by many Elemental teachers he started his Order and was the first student of Awleo. Kain’s element happened to be one of the most rare elements even for Elementals and unheard of in Humans; a Light Elemental. After gaining power as the head of his new Religious movement he feared that some one of the same power of his would come and take over. He slowly started to discourage the use of elemental magic by those chosen by Elementals claiming that they were not teaching them the “True” Magic. Distrust started to grow between the two groups as more and more The Divine light and the Knights started to teach their own versions of magic. Soon only those who were allowed to become Knights were allowed to learn even basic healing magic. Magic by not Knights was outlawed in the cities and so were most Elementals. To disparage Humans from seeking Elementals for help or teachings The Knights labeled them Demons- Betrayers and monsters. So humans would come to them and pay for these things. It was shortly after that that the Knights started their purging of the cities, any Elemental or Human/Elemental was banished or killed, and thus broke the Oath of the 13 and the start of the War of Light began.
