it's time
top 10 jojo characters?
I'll probably regret this list soon :P
10) Jonathan: he's very interesting to analyze from a trends standpoint, as I can imagine how he would be outright disliked in, say, the 2000s because too nice and "boring" but nowadays a protagonist who is just good at heart is almost novel lol. Jonathan may not be the most complex character in the series, but his sheer lovability, sweet moments with his Erina, tearjerking death where he even hugs Dio's head and that's enough to give him pause, and how it's all but stated that his descendants, no matter how much of delinquents they can be, all share his sense of justice, make him both crucial to the story and iconic in his own right.
9) F.F.: as funny as they are in their adorkableness, I wouldn't have put them here because they have such little screentime. I would almost compare them to Fugo, intriguing ideas but very quick execution. Yet, I think they earned a place here because of what exactly they stood for: their speech about intellect and memories as a stand in for their sense of humanity is poignant and thematically relevant. They deserve the world and a hug.
8) Kira: as I said in my thoughts of Part 4, Kira is fascinating to analyze in his motivations and hypocrisies. The way he sees himself as a victim of circumstances, oppressed by those who hunt him down, almost make you empathize with him despite being a perverted serial killer - it's probably not a coincidence that we get many episodes/chapters from his POV like he's one of the protagonists. Particularly fascinating to me is how he monologues to those he plans to kill soon, as if he deep down resents his self-imposed quest of anonimity and misses someone he could confide in.
7) DIO: another character I would have probably placed lower, but discussion around him makes you think whether he's just the card-carrying villain he presents himself to be or if there's something about him that can be read between the lines. You could talk about his underlying respect for Jonathan, poisoned by his jealousy that he got to live a nice life while Dio didn't. You could talk about the ambiguities in his relationship with Pucci - while calling them "friends" in the true sense of the term is obviously inappropriate given the massive power imbalance, I do read a degree of genuine trust and intimacy between them. I feel I still need to chew him a bit, but while his Part 3 self is by far the most memetic, he becomes more interesting in other parts where we see him as a person.
6) Bucciarati: the mom of all time. I love that he's extremely and effortlessly charismatic, even more so than Giorno. The brain of the gang, intelligent, strongwilled, collected and so loving towards his gang, especially Trish - the latter being enough to make him power through actual death. As far as I'm concerned, he's the real protagonist of Part 5.
5) Kakyoin: I'm aware that, being a Part 3 character, he's still very weak compared to future parts. Kakoyin suffers from a criminal lack of screentime, especially by the time the gang gets to Egypt and he's put out of commission for... I don't even know why. Because he was too cool I guess :P I'm putting him here because he really struck me, in design, general personality compared to the rest of the gang, and simple but effective backstory. He just appeals to me, as an intelligent, mostly serious loner with a simple yet creative Stand (in a part where Stands were still on the level of "punches real hard"), who has a character arc of gaining courage and went from succumbing to DIO's charms to standing up against him and becoming a crucial factor in his death. Which, for all that we made fun of the story giving us his backstory five minutes before his death, still gets me for how it reminds us that he was a boy with parents waiting for him.
4) Pucci: the only gay simp for an evil vampire who preaches about being right that I respect :P Easily best villain in how scary he is - both because of the terrifying power he reaches by the end of the story (I had legit chills during that whole Made in Heaven apocalypse), and for how he's genuinely convinced to be the hero of the story, not just like Kira who saw himself as a victim but thinking DIO's plan will save mankind by forcing them to know their fate. He also has a subtle but clear character arc of becoming more and more bold, which is his eventual undoing. And, of course, you have his whole backstory, from how he couldn't accept that his sister's death was partially his fault to his "friendship" with DIO. I may have cheered when he died badly, but I thorougly enjoyed every scene with him.
3) Joseph: again, I know he's a bit flatter than most on this list. I don't care. Joseph is funny as hell and his charisma is off the charts lmao. He thinks in 5 dimensions, he's a Dante-esque jokester, he trolls the closest thing to a deity, he makes Hamon look cool through his ingenuity, he's plain fun. I only wish we saw more of his relationship with Josuke, and that we learned why he cheated on Suzie Q the cutiepie :(
2) Josuke: the true successor of his father, Josuke is also funny as hell, but less because he's a troll and more because... honestly, he's just a cutie lol. A cutie that can doom you to a fate worse than death, but still lol. He's the only one who feels like a true teen here, being immature, obsessed with money and prone to tantrums, but also, he's just so kind and loving. So kind that he's the best healer of the JoJos, but his powers don't work on himself. He's literally nice :) and he has a cute broship with Okuyasu, and it's endearing how he looks up to his older nephew. i just. i want to bite him
1) Jolyne: recency bias, mayhaps, but I don't care lol. Jolyne is Jotaro if he was a good character fhdsjfhjskdhfjk I gushed enough about her already. She's an excellent example of a female character written like a person first (which you'd think is a low bar...), a bit rough around the edges but with a big heart of gold, starting as weak and ensnared both in the prison and by her fate and ending up strong enough to break away from both, giving her life for a trapped child like her so that everyone can eventually reach freedom and happiness. She's also cute in her own way. and also pretty. ily jolyne <3
Honorary mention goes to Speedwagon, the waifu of all time whose devotion to his bro is still felt two centuries later through his foundation, Caesar for having a funny homoerotic dynamic with Joseph and the first actually poignant death, Polnareff who got spared my ires for replacing Jotaro as the protagonist by virtue of being really funny about it (while also having his earned dramatic moments), and Ermes, who doesn't get to do much but listen she's very cool and ma'am okay

Hi! My name is Krysta and I started this gofundme so I could learn to be a better cosplayer. My dream in the future is to open up a cosplay cafe in a major city in the US (most likely Boston as thats the area im from) and i already study Baking & Pastry as a college major. I would love to get an understanding and a knowledge of cosplay creation to have as a handy skill as an owner of such a cafe. I’ve only made one costume before and it was a fairly easy feat for me. I know i can get better and do so much more if given the time, tools and support to help me get there. Due to my current lack of funds I can not provide rewards at this point in time. I would eventually like to be able to obtain the tools, materials and skills to make small prop comissions or plushes or other such small items for donating and things. I have aspergers and anxiety that I have been diagnosed with by professionals so as of right now im in between being a full time student (because a job on top would bring me too much stress to concievably handle at this time) and a summer job. My parents dont have much faith in me and my dreams of cosplay cafes so i’d like to prove to my parents that I can become successful and people support me and my ideas. Currently i’m trying to get some money and supplies for easter that I can use to make about 4 or 5 projects ive wanted to do for a while now. I will be updating the campaign with the progress, when I do finally start them. I plan to make Kakyoin Noriaki, Yukako Yamagishi, Trish Una, Foo Fighters and Noodle from the Gorillaz video On Melancholy Hill along with buying/making and styling wigs and buying/making some fun little props as well! Im hoping to have them all started and/or finished by the end of July. Thank you so, so much!
Sorry to rant or anything but this would mean the absolute world to me! ♡
Chubby F. F. and Jolyne x Hermes x F. F. keep me alive.
