A Family as it Should've Been
Introducing a brand new timeline into the mix, it's the Retribution Timeline!
In this timeline, Bane gets all that he deserves, including Sanguine getting to live her life raising her babies, who don't experience a shred of his cruelty. He is spinning in his grave right now, ladies and gentlemen.
For context, the whole timeline is based on if Ruin actually loved Dark Gaia instead of using him to try and take over the empire and find her missing lover, as in this timeline she never meets Drake, and therefore never kickstarts Dark Gaia and Chip's forever war. Dark Gaia still ends up a lil corrupted, but Chip is no longer constantly worried about his brother, and is able to clearly see the signs of what Bane is doing to Sanguine. He and his brother kill their former ex best friend and get Sanguine the medical attention she needs, and she gets to live to see her boys not only hatch, but grow up big and strong.
Because Bane never gets his hands on the boys, Death ends up becoming a normal, albeit shy and largely antisocial, person. He actually loves his nephews, and has no reason to harm them, as he's experienced no abuse himself, and he becomes the best uncle anyone could ever dream of.
Shadow and Eclipse are the children of Doom still, however their other parent is Mephiles this time, or at least, the closest thing to him, anyway. See, the End is not a catalyst in his and Iblis's birth, and they were born naturally to Ruin and Dark Gaia, making them slightly corrupted Ancient/Mobian Hybrids, rather than immortal pieces of a manmade deity, and effectively very different people. In this timeline, he and his brother grow up alongside Doom and Ariem, as well as Son (yes THAT Son) and Clover, as Rot never gets abducted by Bane, and the Rot twins are also not affected by the forever war (The forest they were born in and the village Son was taken to was extremely near ground zero). Sanguine lives in Chip and Dark Gaia's castle and often watches Mephy and Ibby because Ruin and Dark Gaia are not very effective parents, and Chip has his hands full raising his own kids. She also raises Ariem's and Mephy and Ibby's cousins, Son and Clover, and Ariem also stays over a lot, with Nebula being invited into the group at some point in the group's teen life. Basically, Sanguine is everyone's mom lmao.
Son and Clover still are named Son and Clover btw, because when Ruin helped in finding her brother Rot, they also found Son and Clover. The two of them were the equivalent of 4 years old at the time, the town had already named Son, and Clover was still a fabled monster in the woods nearby when the Gaian twins and Ruin came to collect them. Because Clover was taken in as a kid btw, he grew up as a relatively normal person, instead of the feral thing he ends up as in the normal timelines and my SonFlower au.
The tragic part of this timeline is the fact that, because Chip and Dark Gaia never start their forever war, everyone lives a normal life. Doom, Mephy, the Rot twins, Ariem, Nebula, and their families and parents (barring Bane cause he's deceased obvi) only live a few hundred years, and Sonic, or Ogilvie as he's known in this timeline, in the future isn't as suped up as he is in the more normal timelines. The Chaos Emeralds remain in the care of the descendants of the Ancients, and the Black Arms never become aliens, and neither do Ariem's people. There aren't many major gods, if any besides the End who remains locked away forever, and Eggman doesn't ever get his hands on the Chaos Emeralds to use in his schemes, nor is he inspired by his grandfather to become the evil genius he is today, because Gerald failed in all his prospects and brought shame upon the Robotnik name.
Speaking of, another result is Maria dies in space from her illness, as Shadow died of old age thousands of years ago and Gerald failed in his pursuit of a cure, ending up in prison for fraud rather than for creating a potential bio weapon, and Towers never becomes the commander of G.U.N. Julien does still get taken down, but Olgilvie retains his royal heritage and stays with his siblings and mother, eventually marrying Sally, and the Freedom Fighters disband, meaning none of his future adventures ever happen. Tails still lives with the triplets, he's officially adopted by Queen Aleena around the Freedom Fighter era.
That tiny lil domino regarding Ruin and her betrayal of Dark Gaia is what kicks everything off. Everyone is happier and there's less pain and suffering and trauma, however, that also means practically nothing happens at all, as none of the normal catalysts for every adventure and major historical event exist. It's a very mundane existence for a lot of the cast, with most never meeting each other, and also, Blaze never discovers Ogilvie's dimension, Silver never visits this timeline, Omega doesn't even exist in this timeline, and Metal is rusting away on Little Planet somewhere, never getting discovered and taken in by Eggman. It's extremely unfortunate.
This is a timeline i have been asked to make for a long time, i have a lot of angst and suffering in all my timelines, and my friends all ask me all the time if I'll ever make a timeline where everyone's happy, so, yeah here's that timeline, it's incredibly boring imo, so don't expect me to do much with it after i figure out what Eclipse, Shadow, Mephiles, and Iblis look like here or what Mephy and Ibby's new names are gonna be, I'd rather work on the Restored timeline tbh lmao, and that one is near the bottom of my priorities list
Still tho, i hope you guys enjoy this one!! I'm trying to fight my artblock and burnout rn cause i have owed i need to get done and it ain't goin away with me just sitting around lmao

After Cytr's rescue, he tried so hard to be normal. Male mobians don't typically wear clothes, after all, and he liked wearing baggy sweaters and sweatpants, and when going out in public, he'd also put on a thick scarf.
At home, he would take everything off, suffering, cold and exposed, and try to act like he was fine, like he could handle it. His adoptive father, Crimson, and his girlfriend, Shadow, and even their robo roommate, Omega, would fuss at him, desperately just wanting him to feel safe, not caring that he wasn't normal.
Around this time as well, his whisker quills that he'd cut off were growing back in, he was gaining weight after being malnourished for so very long, and his fur and hair were becoming more healthy and soft, even though his hair specifically still favored the shape he'd been forcing it into for years using hair ties.
