Moodboard Trades Masterpost

I’m open for moodboard trades! I decided a formal post laying out all the details would be easiest for everyone. It’s a little long, but I want to cover all the bases, so bear with me. A few things up front:

1) My free time is limited, so I’m asking for patience first and foremost. I’m currently averaging about one board per week. I’ll keep you updated, but these will not be fast!

2) DMs work best to ensure clear communication both ways. I may have extra questions. Also, you’ll have a chance to ask for changes if anything doesn’t work for you. DMs mean you get final approval.

3) You must be following me. New followers are welcome, but only if you intend to stick around.

4) Your board is yours. Post to your blog, use for fic headers, whatever you’d like, all I ask is to please credit me. I post them to my blog after your final approval purely for housekeeping purposes.

5) There’s no limit on how many boards you can request, but please, only request one at a time. I will, however, require a one-to-one trade for each board. Trades can be any art. Drawings, graphics, even fics, but I will require a fair trade from now on. I’m not making any more for free.

What You’ll Get:

You’ll get a single PNG file that is 920px square with transparent borders. It will have 9 squares of different images that relate to your subject. I do a lot of subtle edits, so they’ll each be customized just for your board. I may rarely reuse source images, but the edits will always be unique. Some examples: here, here, or here. Check this tag to see them all.

What I Need From You:

1) Subject - This one’s obvious: the character, ship, story, fic, etc. you’d like the board to be about. Any fandom or original work you want. OCs are welcome! As is anything canon, fanon, AUs, etc.

2) Images or Keywords - Please share any screenshots, commissions, and/or faceclaims to give me a general idea of appearances. (Pinterest boards are also welcome.) You may also give me any specific images you’d like used if you have them.

Don’t have any images? Totally okay! Tell me about your subject. Basic description: hair color, eye color, skin tone, their style, etc. (Punk? Hippie? Hairstyle? Leather jackets? Socks with sandals?) I mostly use faceless images, but if you have faceclaims, let me know. Include anything special or significant to your subject: objects, places, hobbies, foods, weapons, clothing items, etc. Do they have any notable traits or quirks? (Must her makeup always be perfect? Does he arrange flowers to help him relax? Do they still sleep with their teddy?)

You may also link any character bios, fics, or your blog’s tags for the subject. The more search terms I have, the better!

3) Words and Quotes - Any quotations, catchphrases, or just words and themes you associate with them. Clichés, tropes, archetypes, common sayings, and so on. (e.g., Adventurous nature? Quiet homebody? Reluctant hero?)

If you have a specific quote, phrase, lyric, line from your writing, etc. that you want included, awesome! I’ll try to read (and comment) any relevant fic you share. I can’t promise to read it all, but I’ll do my best. (If the board is focused on a single fic; I’ll read it all in that case. If it’s your magnum opus, it’ll take longer, so keep that in mind.)

If you have any songs or playlists, great! I have a hardline 3 song per board maximum. I don’t use Spotify, but if you give me titles and artists, I’ll find them.

4) Colors - What colors would you like me to focus on, if any? A range of 2-4 is good. General rule of thumb is to have some contrast or balance, e.g., a warm color and a cool color, or a dark shade and a pastel shade. (This is entirely optional; I can simply pick the colors that work best as I’m sourcing images.)

Final Notes:

If you want an entirely textless board, let me know! I’d still like any quote or word associations, because sometimes searching for those pop some amazing images unexpectedly.

I don’t have any fandom limits, but if it’s a fandom I’m not familiar with, I may have extra questions and may need extra time for research.

Controversial and triggering topics may be negotiable, depending on context, but I won’t break Tumblr’s TOS.

I also reserve the right to draw any firm boundaries, at any time, that I deem necessary. This includes refusing any request I choose not to do.
