Losing a sense, any sense, can be disorienting. It’s an experience millions all over the world have, one person at a time. But what about when it happens to a whole town?
ANSWER IF YOU WANT ....
....BUT NO ONE CAN HEAR YOU.
SLEEP IN HEAVENLY PEACE.
OOC/DETAILS:
Silence will prevail beginning 23 Dec at Noon EST (6pm GMT), however, it won’t be a sudden switch. Feel free to have your characters having trouble with hearing, maybe voices and sounds sounding intermittent or staticky, or anything else you can think of that may happen before nothing makes sound and/or no one can hear anything.
** Update: Also, in keeping with the theme of ‘silent night’, it will inexplicably not progress from night to day during the drop. Keep in mind, it isn’t pitch black and weather is still occurirng normally, but the usual day/night cycle is suspended like it would be in a more northern location.
A FEW NOTES/QUESTIONS:
What are the sudden effects of not being able to communicate verbally? This may be even more compelling for characters who have another sensory limitation.
Which is worse: no sound or no light? Some characters love night and the dark. They may be more active. Others may be more likely to nap... or snap. Please remember to have extreme reactions approved as you would a complicated storyline.
Anyone with supernatural powers will find them short-circuiting during the silence. They will not be able to use any sort of magic. (This doesn’t apply to overall mortality. Those who are immortal still cannot be killed.)
No one knows why this is happening. The town council is privy to details about the portal and may try to explain it involving that aspect. That will take some time, probably after the plot is over, and details will be made available as they’re learned in-game.
Please tag your starters for the plot, open or closed, with ‘FABLEPLOT6’. Previous threads do not have to be put on hold unless you wish them to be. Please let your partners know if you will be holding things for after the plot. Plot-related threads may extend past the plot date, but no new threads should be started once the storm is concluded on 30 DEC at MIDNIGHT EST (5 am GMT.)
Trees and undergrowth popped up everywhere. What used to be forest is something different, coming alive with unknown insects and teeming with animals you’ve only dreamt about. The days are hot and misty, thick air and sunshine hidden by a dense canopy. The nights are cool and rainy and the animals that come alive then? Even more bizarre.
The ground, the air, the trees, the entire landscape -- they almost seem like they’re alive.
Welcome to the jungle. It’s right outside your door.
OOC/details:
The jungle will officially appear on 27 May at Noon EST ( 6pm GMT), however, the air and temperature will begin to change before that. Feel free to have your characters reacting to fog/mist, humidity and gradually climbing temperatures that morning.
Here are a few questions to consider answering:
Where are they? As opposed to our previous plot drops, this is a little more of an external phenomenon. Modern climate control can help manage increasing temps outside, but what happens when they go out? Trees, bushes, and animals don’t really have a lot of regard for travelways. Roads and even doors may be blocked by trees or you may find yourself in a stare-off with a leopard at your front door. Be creative, but try to keep it at least somewhat reasonable for this climate/weather zone.
Who are they with? For enough people, the panic of not knowing what’s happening with the town might be enough to lock them down inside.
What supplies do they have to work with? Some rainforest areas in the world flood once their rivers and streams hit capacity. Some residents will be more familiar with these patterns and might be able to predict this. For others, this will be unfamiliar and they may find themselves less prepared in the event of flooding.
Anyone with supernatural powers will find them short-circuiting during the storm. They will not be able to use any sort of magic. (This doesn’t apply to overall mortality. Those who are immortal still cannot be killed.)

This is the season of ice and snow, skating and snowball fights. It’s time for cold outside, fires inside, tea, and sleeping in.
Instead, the air is coming alive. Something different is happening. It’s dark in the middle of the day, with thick, grumbling clouds obscuring the sun and sky. By this evening, you won’t be able to sleep because the sky will be alive. Lightning, thunder and... is that music playing in the background?
FIND SOMEWHERE TO TAKE COVER.
Buckle down for a thunderstorm like you’ve never experienced, Fableton. What you have on hand, the people you’re stuck with… that’s your location, your supplies, your company.
IT’S TAKING CHARGE.
OOC/details: The lightning storm will officially begin on 21 Jan at 1 pm EST ( 7 pm GMT), however, the weather will begin to turn before that. Feel free to have your characters reacting to clouds and foreboding thunder. Here are a few questions to consider answering:
Where are they? Businesses will have to close. Electricity will be drastically affected. There will be lightning strikes near occupied places, making building shake and affecting utilities. Rain may accompany the storm in microbursts. People may or may not make it home. Power will go out. Feel free to plan and explore how this will affect them, especially if it’s not the kind of climate they’re used to.
Who are they with? It’s entirely possible your character(s) get stuck with whoever they’re talking to when the storm begins – however awkward it may be and however much they might freak out.
What supplies do they have to work with? Candles, flashlights, lamps, food stores – not on their regular list? Too bad for them.
A few other things:
Anyone with supernatural powers will find them short-circuiting during the storm. They will not be able to use any sort of magic. (This doesn’t apply to overall mortality. Those who are immortal still cannot be killed.)

And they're blowing in something strange. Creatures have been materializing in the wind in various places around town. Demigods and Ancient Greeks might recognize them as harpies, bird/woman hybrids with wings and sharp talons that can only be destroyed with fire.
Citizens of Fableton are advised to use caution when venturing outdoors and to seek shelter immediately if one is spotted. If you feel you are in danger, please contact the Fableton Police Department for assistance.
Imagine how loud it would be to come back into a world of sound suddenly, how glaring it would be if everything was full volume. Feel free to include your character’s reaction in the fableplot6 tag. Otherwise, avoid posting plot-related starters and finish up the threads you have going.
