Molly had a study date with Maia when things started to go weird. She was sitting on the floor in front of the couch in a semi-circle of books, papers, flashcards, and snacks while she crammed for a sociology exam. "Sorry-- could you say that again?"

Hatter was standing on the counter at the tea shop and reciting poetry at the top of his lungs. He could hear maybe a fraction of it, and it seemed no one else could either; he figured the magic was going funny in Fableton again, and he might as well enjoy it rather than be freaked out by it. It was disconcerting to be losing a sense, and he didn't feel like being disconcerted right now--so, poetry. "The vorpal blade went snicker-snack! He left it dead and with its head, he went galumphing back." He turned in time to see someone enter the shop and grinned, offering a small wave in place of a hello.

It had only been a few days without sound, but in that time Arthur had almost forgotten what noise sounded like. That clothes rustled and wind blew and the sound of Aria crying made your ears bleed. He bounced the little one on his hip, attempting to soothe her with quiet whispers, until the sound of the person beside him finally pushed him over the edge. “Could you just stop. For five minutes,” he hissed, narrowing his eyes at them.

While Adam enjoyed silence, this was far from his preference. It had actually driven him from his home in search of answers after phone calls had gotten him absolutely nowhere. Now he stalked the streets, roaring as loud as it felt like he could, needing someone to hear him. The strange darkness helped nothing, this strange place making things worse.

Hercules had a day full of things planned for Tiana's birthday, but given that the town was in a state of uncertainty due to no one being able to hear each other and a lot of things were closed, a few of them were going to have to wait. He was up before dawn as usual, and after his usual run and shower, he'd set about making her breakfast in bed, which actually turned out to be more like breakfast for the rest of the week. There was enough food to feed a small army, but it was one of the things they were both enthusiastic about, and he wanted her to have everything she wanted on her birthday.

The job was simple enough, jump through the portal and bring back something interesting. Truthfully, Nikos suspected Hades only gave him the order to get Nikos away from the Underworld versus having him attempt to fix the hot water heater again. Po was busy so it wasn’t like he had any Christmas plans anyway. Besides it wasn’t like Nikos had a say in it either way. The portal lead him to a snow covered alley with tall bricked buildings and he could hear voices rushing past speaking in a language he didn’t recognize. There wasn’t much for an interesting artifact, just some burnt out matches, and it was beyond freezing especially to Nikos in his demon form so he just grabbed a handful of the matches and left.

However, that’s when the easy bit ended because when he returned to Fableton he didn’t turn back to his human form. No, no that would have been too easy. Nikos looked down at his hands (his usual indicator) and saw not his normal lanky fingers, but short scaly ones with long talons. His mouth was sharp with razor teeth. The town was dark, but he was pretty sure it was Fableton since that was the courthouse. “ Gamó...” he grumbled in a guttural voice. What was worse besides the sudden onset of ringing in his ears was that he could feel another change coming on and he was pretty sure it wasn’t going to be human.

He spotted the shadows of people going about their business in the square either in a panic or calmly. Nikos had one goal, get to Hades and hope that people would think that this was just part of whatever mishap was happening. At least that’s what he went with when he stepped out into the street right in front of someone. “Uh....” Nikos growled. “Merry Christmas.”

Rian had noticed the changes a little bit later than he should, as he had been working diligently.  Once he had, he knew something was off and decided his best course of action was making his way to Elsa’s to check on her.  As he was walking through town, he noticed someone and immediately went over to ask, “Are you okay?”

Her battery was down to 15%, the ringing in her ears was on the verge of being maddening, she barely could hear herself screaming, and to top it all off she had lost her beloved Lucifer. Shock was trying to keep back tears and failing pretty terribly as she stormed through the dark town wiping at her eyes and screaming for her cat. “HEY!” She called as she grabbed someone’s arm and turned them towards her. “HAVE YOU SEEN THIS CAT?!” Shock asked as she held up her phone to show the picture of her snaggle-toothed black cat.
