It was yet another thing Jack had taken for granted in Halloweentown, but could he really be blamed? Their home had been eternal, until it wasn't.

There were many things to dislike about being trapped on the human plane, when they'd once had the power to come and go as they pleased. The one consolation was getting their people to (relative) safety. He would have been out of his skull with worry if he couldn't see for himself that Sally was safe. "Much as I wish we could go home, I'm grateful you're here with me," he added, more softly.

The former faerie prince cast her a startled look at being asked his opinion. Cor had been in the human world for a matter of months, and to say he hadn't quite found his footing there was an understatement. Being hired at the coffee shop was a stroke of luck in spite of his lack of experience--none whatsoever, to be precise--and while he was quick to adapt, he was sure it hadn't escaped his co-workers' notice that there was something off about him.

"I'm afraid I haven't the slightest idea, but I do believe the floor is shaking as well," he noted mildly. In his world, where he was a grand total of three inches tall, that typically meant human machinery of some kind. He didn't like to think what it could mean here.
