!930s French Military Fabric Application ‘In Love’ Postcards.
(via eBay)
Little mouse patchwork/application hanging for my house door to celebrate the Chinese year of the mouse which is starting next weekend. Everything cloth used is patchwork cotton.
I drew the mouse and the tulip free hand on paper, cut out the shapes and used them as templates to cut out the coloured applications. Fusible webbing was used to glue thing in place before machine-stitching all the edges. All green parts have been drawn on with water vaishing markers free hand befor being embroidered. Glass beads were added for mor omph.
The nice border on the red parts were added thanks to a fancy stitch my sewing machine can do. There is a piece of cardboard being used as backing to give everything more shape. Both the loop and the Chinese knot were scavenged from an older, now unused wall decoration.
