Today I took a moment to visit the work of Detroit artist Tyree Guyton at Cue art foundation. This amazing artist was first shown to me by my mother when I was just a little one and she first took me the the Heidelberg Project. I have been returning there for years now and it continues to be such an amazing and inspiring symbol of what art can do. This work "Faces of God on Fire" is an extension of the project and reinforces Tyree's connection to the great city of Detroit that raised us both. After the news of another tragic act of arson at the Heidelberg Project today, this work reminded me why every person working there continues to fight. Stay strong Tyree, your voice is being heard. For my information or to contribute to rebuilding the sites that were destroyed by arson this year, visit www.heidelberg.org.
