Beka is a smiley 4-year-old boy from Ethiopia who recently underwent life-saving cardiac surgery in Israel. His mother told us "I cannot express my emotions with how thankful and happy I am to be here and for Beka to be able to receive this surgery." We're happy to report that Beka and his mother are now back home healthy in Ethiopia!

A picture of vulnerability This little girl captured my attention the instant I arrived in her community. I stepped out of the van to find her crouching along the outside wall of the care point. She looked unwell, but was assured she wasn't in need of a clinic visit. Two days later, as I sat with three lively children eating their breakfast in the care point, she just stood in the doorway and watched us. She wouldn't join us and unfortunately, I didn't pull myself away from the other kiddos to reach out to her. But she continued to tug on my heart so I had to dig into this little girl and her story. I learned that Marguerite* was born with a cognitive delay, which her mother also has. She is ostracized at home and not given any attention or love. When she first started coming to the care point she couldn't even speak. But now, after spending time with the care workers, she now is beginning to talk. Marguerite will continue to break my heart as she seems so alone, but I am so thankful that she has 20+ care workers who see her daily and make sure she is well. I am thankful that even though she may feel ostracized at home, she feels safe to come to the care point each day to receive the love of Jesus.
