An example of America's shitty health care system. This is the bill for the ambulance ride to take my grandmother to the hospital a couple of week's ago. The $158 is the cost of the oxygen they gave her. The $148 is the mileage. We live 3.7 miles from the hospital. If she didn't have Kaiser through Medicare this is what we'd have to pay out of pocket JUST FOR THE RIDE. The 4 days she spent in the hospital trying not to die, plus her ongoing aftercare would cost us probably 100 grand. At least. This is immoral. Whereas a Female Infant, about a Week old, was dropt in Amen-Corner, in the Parish of St. Martin Ludgate, on Saturday the 2d instant, about 11 at Night. If any Person will give Notice of the Parents, or true Settlement of the said Child, so that the Parish (where it was left) may be discharged of it, shall receive 40s.
