Fact Number Twenty: As of March 6th, 2012...
I became the godmommy of my best friends' son, Levi Bradley.
I was one of two that my oldest friend let into her room while she was giving birth. It was me and her husband, and the rest of her family had to wait in the hall, which let me say, HONOR! It was the biggest honor to be able to witness such a thing.
When she told me she wanted me in the room, I was floored. For most of her pregnancy, she said it was only going to be her and WessLee, so imagine my complete surprise when six months in she randomly texted to ask if I wanted to be in the room too.
I mean, guys!!! I was going to be content to stay in the waiting room like everyone else! I was arguing against her family throwing such a fit, because that was their first baby. If they only wanted to share the moment together, I was all for it! And then she asked me...I was almost in tears. And I NEVER cry.
So yesterday, I got to watch as her baby was born and I took THE VERY FIRST PICTURE of their son, just five seconds after he was placed on her belly. I was the third person to hold him after her and her hubby, naturally. I was there for it all, and guys! GUYS!
It was such a beautiful experience.
#20: I had/have a bad habit of defacing school property
It's not like I carve things into desks, or graffiti the walls, or anything permanent like that. But I do draw on desks and walls and things like that more often than I should.
I don't really remember when this started, but I do know that it got really bad one I got into grade 7. By then I was drawing things on my desk on a daily basis, doodling a bunch of quotes, typographic art, and random comics.
I got in trouble at the same rate as well. Neither my teachers (or my principal for that matter) appreciated the doodles I had all over my desk and I often found myself wiping my desk clean with some sort of cleanser every few weeks.
Even though I'm in high school now and we don't have set desk placements in any of my classes, I still manage to squeeze a few doodles and random phrases on desks here and there. It isn't as bad as it used to be/as it could be, but I still haven't really broken the habit.
It's just a big fat reminder that I need an actualfax sketchbook really.
