(3) while this is a different discussion entirely, please be aware that there is a huuuuge difference between sentience and sapience. this is generally the foundation of the argument for "does death constitute as abuse for non-sapient beings?". if they cannot comprehend it, is it suffering? not saying your views are objectively incorrect, just that neither side's are. so at least while alive, it is true those animals often get treated better than the handlers treat themselves!
I am aware of the difference, hence why I (unlike some radical vegans) would never equate animal killing to the killing of humans. It can be argued how far the difference goes, of course, but yes, that’s philosophical.
HOWEVER, I fail to see how this translates automatically to “while those animals are alive, they often get treated better than the handlers treat themselves”. From what I’ve seen of farmers and their living conditions, they generally allow themselves, for example, far more freedom of movement and far more living space, greater food variety, etc. etc.
