Episode 94. Bad Romance: Twilight (2008) | Faculty of Horror
This taught me to officially stop feeling superior because I never liked Twilight. Good riddance to internalised misogynist snobbery and bad-faith moral panic. Was it the greatest love story ever written? Absolutely not. Was it deserving of all the flak it got? Also absolutely not.
So I’d recommend sharing this with anyone else who might still be inclined to thaw and microwave up a few old hot takes on Twilight.

Lore: a multiple award-winning podcast series recounting real historical events, experiences, places, sightings, and the inexplicable and eerie phenomena that become legends.
About: a storytelling podcast about folklore, specifically the spooky, unexplained, horrific, and supernatural elements of folklore and urban legends. In each episode, Aaron Mahnke recounts a well-researched historical/folkloric event or occurrence, accompanied by beautiful, haunting music. Whether or not you believe in the supernatural, some of these stories are likely to make your hair stand on end.
Length: 180+ episodes currently, episodes are about half an hour each. Updates often.
Faculty of Horror: a scholarly style podcast series about horror films.
About: a podcast by horror fans (and academics), Andrea Subissati and Alexandra West, about the horror genre. Together, they dissect and discuss films, focusing on a particular theme or topic, and provide relevant readings along with every episode. If you’re already a fan of these films or you’re looking to expand your knowledge of the genre--and you’re okay with hearing snippets of film audio throughout--this is probably a good podcast for you!
Length: 90+ episodes currently, episodes range from an hour to up to two hours in length. Updates monthly.
Ep. 16: A Bump in the Night, and Not the Sexy Kind: a one-off episode from the media and writing discussion podcast, Be The Serpent.
About: in this episode, co-hosts Alexandra Rowland and Jennifer Mace discuss the genre of horror with their guest, Ryan Boyd of the Rank and Vile podcast. Together, they consider the book and film versions of Jeff Vandermeer’s Annihilation, alongside other texts, including fanfiction. They geek out and have a great time, which is something I’m personally very about.
Length: only one episode on horror, about an hour long. (The rest of the podcast series is well worth checking out, though, especially if you’re a writer).
