itās actually so funny that the beginning of Veilguard seems to be us ruining a dudeās plans, taking over his house, and immediately naming ourselves Team Whose Goal Is Guarding The Very Thing He Was Trying To Destroy
Having Solas in your head all through Veilguard is actually a very funny follow-up to an Inquisitor who drank from the Well of Sorrows, especially if that Inquisitor romanced Solasā¦
Like imagine them meeting like
Lavellan: yeah I have the voices of ancient elves in my head at all times, how about you?
Rook: oh yeah I have your ex in my head
Lavellan: ā¦..what?
Iām so fucking obsessed with them
Hi my name is Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven de Riva and I have long ebony black hair (that's how I got my name) with purple streaks and red tips that reaches my mid-back and icy blue eyes like limpid tears and a lot of people tell me I look like Morrigan (AN: if u don't know who she is get da hell out of here!). I'm not related to Viago de Riva but I wish I was because he's a major fucking hottie.
Honestly Iād assumed Manfred was just gonna be a silent character given heās a skeleton. Kinda like Bianca in a way, has a name but is really just an extension of the actual companion. So knowing that heās voiced by Matt Mercer⦠this totally changes my expectations and Iām very excited to see what Emmrich and Manfredās whole deal is š
Okay again on the topic of things in Veilguard that I think had the potential to be so good but they just werenāt delved into at all: my Rookās relationship with Neve kind of accidentally sucked. I got max approval of course, as I did with every companion, but this couldāve been such a good place for deep companion conflict.
First Neve got hurt during the opening quest, something that wasnāt entirely Rookās fault but I/she felt bad about anyway. Then I chose to save Treviso over Minrathous, thinking Minrathous was better prepared to defend itself. Neve, obviously, did not like this and was very cold to Rook for a while. (I also accidentally missed one of Neveās quests before Minrathous got all fucked up, a short one where I think I wouldāve just met her Shadow Dragon friends? I RPed that as another point against Rook for Neve, a sign that she just must not care.) Finally, I had Rook send Neve to deal with whatever it was that caused her to get kidnapped and blighted (genuinely canāt remember what it was. what an impression this game made), trying to show she trusts Neve and instead getting her hurt once again.
All this culminated into me RPing Rook as someone who genuinely likes Neve, wants to work with her and be her friend, but her choices just kept inadvertently fucking Neve over. Add in the fact that Neve clearly seems closer to the other companions than she is to Rook. Rook isnāt invited to the book club. Rook barely gets to meet Neveās Tevinter friends. Rook couldnāt romance Neve even if she wanted to, but Lucanis could. Rook tries to protect everyone (sheās a Grey Warden, dammit!) but sometimes she fails, and throughout the game she kept failing Neve in particular over and over again.
This could have been such a juicy dynamic! But itās all just my own headcanon. Itās not explored in game. Neve was basically a coworker with maxed out approval who Rook was actually barely close to at all. I donāt particularly imagine they stay in touch after the game ends.
