Today has been a very rough day. We knew our temporary foster babies had coccidia and had been treated for it- no big deal, I’ve dealt with that a lot. So when they had diarrhea, I wasn’t surprised- they still ate well and gained weight...until they didn’t. . This litter consists of three kittens- two boys, and one girl. And the girl, Stubs, well, she’s special. A sassy little lady with a little stubby club tail, she had my heart immediately. . Last night Stubs started declining. We got her seen by a vet this morning and got everyone fluids, but she was still having problems and didn’t want to eat. I gave her a lot of special attention- here she is wrapped in a heated blanket, hanging out with me after I cleaned her up. She started to seem more alert and active so I thought we’d try feeding her again, but as soon as I picked her up she started seizing. We started fading kitten protocol after she stopped, but everything happened too fast. Our sweet stubby girl is gone. . Rest In Peace, sweet lady. I’m so sorry, Stubs, that I couldn’t do more for you. I may have only met you two days ago, but I hope you know how much I absolutely adore you- how much your foster mom and I love and miss you and wish we could have saved you. I’m sorry, my sassy lady. It's coming! I'm finally getting close to finishing the video and accompanying blog posts on treating Fading Kitten Syndrome. A lot of fosters have asked me to make this video and it's not an easy topic so it has taken me a long time to get it done. There will be multiple blog posts with information, resources and supply lists. I'm super excited to share that Carolyn @txittybittykitty has been kind enough to collaborate with me on this and will be writing a guest post for my blog walking us through the Parker Protocol. It's similar to the Fading Kitten Protocol but better. The video and blog posts will have dedicated, easy to find, posts on my @foster.kitten.tips account with clickable links in that Link Tree. If you haven't heard me talk about this account yet, I created it with the hope of it being an easy way to find foster kitten tips and tricks; an easy way to point another foster to info when they ask for advice. Everything on that account will have an easy to read title instead of a cute kitten picture so you don't have to click on each post, searching for the info you need. No more "Oh yeah, I DID make post about that -at some point- and it's there, somewhere, it's got a picture of a kitten on it, you can't miss it!"
