Flight Rising Dragon species redesign and description (Under cut)
This series will probably take me some time to finish, and I will choose dragons at random (yes, you can request if you'd like!). I'll try to link all the redesigns I make within each post so theyre easy to find, but will also be tagged to # Dragon redesign madness.

I based this redesign off dragonflies, butterflies, hummingbirds, and chamaleons.
Sexual Dysmorphism : YES. Males tend have much more colorful crests and wings. They also tend to have larger wings than their female counterparts. Males will often develop a red spot on their chest, thought to attract mates as it shows a rich diet, and therefore a show of his hunting expertise.
NOTE: Individuals shown above of different subspecies. realistically, the female counterpart would often present darker shades of color.
Diet: nectar, insects.
Behavior: These dragons are highly social, living in giant colonies across their varying habitats. They have been observed to show nesting behavior, and males tend to display their colors with pride. This species does not often live in cold climates, being most likely to be found in tundras and rainforests. Those that live in colder climates can be often seen migrating every winter, and tend to have more flight resistance, as well as a pouch on their legs that hold pollen. They can be found nesting and resting on flowers. The "hairs" on their legs are useful for nectar storage, and this makes the Fae dragons very efficient pollinators! They use the end of their tail to latch onto tree branches when resting or feeding, and have been seen using it to hold onto other objects.

My two cents, but whatever you decide on I would LOVE to see, there is SO MUCH potential in these colors!!!
I like to start with Basic/Basic/Underbelly to get a good look at the colors, pick the color that stands out the most, (in this case Yellow and/because it’s my favorite color) then scroll through different genes for that color to get some general aesthetic ideas and then pick the other genes to best showcase it? If that makes sense?

But I liked Firefly the best, because I think her colors lend themselves really well to a kinda twilight on the riverbank feel. So!
Tertiary Gene: Firefly
For the wings I wanted something darker and more subtle/not distracting, to really make the Fireflies pop, ended in a toss up between Shimmer and Blend, Shimmer is darker but Blend gives the phalanges some extra luminosity that was very nice

Looking for something that would make the Sky look more like sky or more like water, my two favorites were:
Boulder or Starmap: for a Van Goph Starry Night feel

Or Chrysocolla, because the white gave it a softness that reminded me of those Maxfield Parish paintings (only Blend pictured because tumblr says I hit my 10 image max and I thought Blend leaned into the Parish blues better than the darker Shimmer)
