Fae Touched
Being one of the heroes, chosen by the Goddesses, brings a certain aspect of divinity to all their lives. It is par for the course and Twilight’s grown used to letting it slide by.
Wild and Hyrule, though, manage to take it to another level.
The fae side of Hyrule isn’t too hard to see when he looks closer. His features are a touch too fine for a hylian, eyes a little too limpid. Suggestions always sound better from him than others in the group. The amount of times dinner turns into his mild requests is too many to count.
The chain quickly learns not to hide their injuries from him, because the traveler is truly terrifying when he catches someone in a falsehood. If they want to avoid his attention, they either need to avoid getting hurt in the first place or get better at talking their way out of it. If nothing else, the number of injuries goes down—no one is willing to take too many risks with a possible lecture waiting.
Hyrule loves to dance, whether the others join in or not. Legend has a pretty good voice, so he’s often the focus of the traveler’s attention in a bid for songs. He brushes away their thanks for favors until they rarely bother; it only falls on deaf ears.
The fae aspects aren’t too hard to see and Twilight is accustomed to adjusting his interactions to accommodate this as the group grows closer.
What does throw him for a loop is Wild.
The Champion isn’t fae and he promptly assures Twilight of this when he finally asks. He may remember little of his past, but his Zelda assured him he’s as hylian as they come—descended from a normal mother and a long line of soldiers.
Despite this, there’s something Other about him. His eyes reflect firelight in the dark like an animal. He can move through the underbrush in perfect silence where the others get caught on brambles. Wild excels at both hunting and foraging, even if many of the heroes are used to finding food in the wild.
Twilight’s theory is that the shrine changed the champion, somehow, when he was healing. Whatever state he entered, something different emerged. He trusts his cub, but Goddess, sometimes he’s terrifying. It’s more than an affinity for nature—he somehow lands neatly in the same category as Hyrule. At least his cooking causes no issues.
Their strange similarities don’t usually cause friction, but bind them closer together. Hyrule and Wild are a dangerous pair when in a mischievous mood, and truly terrifying when they are angry.

I shared this with my commission I got for Jak, on my other blog, but I figured I’d actually share Aoibheal’s art on her own page! Courtesy of @elizastarkart Eliza managed to nail that impish expression my fae-touched bun is known for - Aoibheal is definitely plotting more mischief.
