Hey! I'm the person that made that post about using the word 'Gypsy.' I'm also half-Roma. The post was born out of frustration with white people especially, as they often fight to be able to use the word 'gypsy' and get pretty nasty about it - at least, this is my experience when calling white people out. Other PoC tend to get the issue. So yes, you're right, nobody should use it, but white people are the ones who get obnoxious about it.

It pisses me off when I hear it, so I can only imagine how you must feel. I've noticed people getting more comfortable with using racial slurs lately, and it's highly upsetting.

I really want to tell Fae Trouble about how bad-ass Pepper was in Iron Man 3 but I don't want to spoil the movie for her. Dilemma. (Also, the resolution of our concern about 'The Mandarin' was actually pretty clever and hilarious. Obvy it's not up to me whether it's racist or not but it definitely seemed to me like the best way that character could have ended up being handled.)

I don't know.  It may have been a protest, because there were people who disagreed with the sales, but it may have just been that the acolyte snapped.  In the moment, I didn't so much care about the why.
