You know, I really wanna see more games without fail states.
The irritation with fail states in point-and-click games is what inspired Lucas Arts to start making a better kind of adventure game. Monkey Island, Sam & Max, etc.
Plus, I'm honestly sick and tired of games that try so hard to prevent the player from winning. Be a little challenging if you want, sure, but don't put all this effort into writing a story, making this vast world to explore, creating interesting characters, and giving us decent gameplay mechanics if you're just going to basically wipe the floor with players and do everything you can to keep us from making progress.
This isn't a rant about anything I'm playing at the moment, it's just something on my mind right now...
