When we say the US women are qualified to the Olympics...what does that mean exactly? I’m assuming that status transfers to whatever governing body is in charge? Is that decided by USOC? FIG? IOC?
I’m guessing you can’t lose that qualification. But what if there is no governing body (unlikely though that is). And what happens to worlds next year. Does a country have to have a governing body to submit a team?
Simone sticks Silvas so she’ll beat 13.932 and win. It’s bars that will get her the win lol
Simone’s bars….won her a medal.
usag make literally a single good desicion at all for the love of god please challenge 2k18
thinking about the fact that people like peyton and katelyn are seniors this year is really messing me up
they’re what
Lies. Have they even graduated high school?
Statement from USA Gymnastics Board of Directors
Here we go again
So...what would the process be to set up a new governing body? Has somebody already discussed this somewhere? How long would it feasibly take? And would it make a difference if the IOC forced the matter by decertifying (which I just no longer believe they’ll do)? Would the gymnasts still be able to compete internationally this year?
I mean, you reach a point where you really do have to do something....but I also feel bad for the gymnasts competing currently.
Statements from Kyla and Madison’s Twitter pages
I want to cry.
I can’t say I’m surprised though. Wish it wasn’t true. I hate feeling so heartbroken. Still can’t imagine what these girls are going through.
And she took the second tweet down too…
She really, really needs to put her phone away for a few hours. This need to have the last word isn’t helping.
And she took the second tweet down too...
I think she deleted the tweet
But the new one isn’t that much better.
i love simone but can she just stop
Last night I was fascinated and curious (regrettably so).
This morning I’m super disappointed. Like, I always thought of Simone as a fairly unproblematic fave. And now I hear this isn’t the first time she may have behaved like a bully?
I’m so bummed.
WHO ARE WE?
Gymfans!
WHAT DO WE WANT?
A free livestream without insipid commentary and infantalizing scoring with routines played throughout-no breaks to watch people stand around.
WHEN DO WE WANT IT?
During any gymnastics meet.
I feel like there’s so much drama going on behind the scene in usa national team. Simone keeps tweeting/liking about how she misses last quad and having each others back. I just hope other younger girls are not mad at her and all other girls for coming forward about Nassar and because of that usag being a shit show. It’s definitely not her fault for that and younger girls should be grateful it’s the end of abuse that was happening for 20 years!
Or maybe it’s just teenage drama where all girls are still in teen ages and it’s all about gossiping and simone adult and can’t handle all these teenage crap
I was just going to asked if I missed something. Since I barely have time to keep up with anything these days...
Statement from John Manly on Rhonda
uhhh holy crap at how he ended the statement…
I think I’m just gonna turn tumblr/any news of this off for the day.
YIKES. That last bit is a step too far.
That last line was definitely too far. At least in the way they phrased it.
So wait...is it a known thing regarding which NCAA coach told the girls to pull their social media posts? Am I missing something because I don't really follow NCAA?
“Rhonda Faehn is no longer with USA Gymnastics. This is a personnel matter that we will not discuss in detail. “We recognize that change can be difficult, but we will not be deterred from making necessary and bold decisions to transform our organization. At USA Gymnastics, we are focused every day on creating a highly empowered culture that puts our athletes first. “Over the next few weeks, we will be communicating some positive changes that reinforce our desire to have our athletes train and compete at the highest level in an empowering and safe environment. “USA Gymnastics is moving forward and positioning for the future with the commitment to our athletes’ safety and well-being at the heart of everything we do. We encourage member clubs, coaches, administrators and the gymnastics entire community to align their efforts to this important task. Together, we will create a culture of empowerment for the young men and women who are pursuing their gymnastics dreams today while honoring those who have gone before them.”
Woah
Though I can't say if I'm for or against this...
