I got a gemsona idea.
So there is a thing called Bort, which is a low quality diamond that is not used in jewelry and is used for industrial purposes. What I came up with is that Bort, or Carbando is a failed diamond that nobody knew about. The other diamonds, including Pink, agreed to hide Carbando/Bort from everyone. She was soon forgotten about for many, many years and was locked away the whole time.
