By that I mean he is eating something and can digest it meaning he can get nutrients from that. He doesn't need fertilizer He's a Venus flytrap.

I love how my dad tries to use my experience as an exchange student as a means of influencing me to eat dinner at the table (something we do only when we have exchange students, which we currently do). "You remember what it was like as a student, right?"

Right, I remember the borderline verbal abuse, being accused of mental illness/eating disorder, and the being talked about like I wasn't there even though I was (and understood almost all). All the negative comparisons to past students, the wrongs I committed...

Yeah, I just LOVED sitting at the table for every goddamn meal for the same goddamn "conversations".

Fine, I will sit at the dinner table for this exchange student even though not all of us were there tonight, but don't think it's because I "[knew] what it was like". I hope to God it isn't like what I experienced. If it was, I'd be insisting we DON'T sit at the table. Because I honestly hated mealtimes until my 3rd host family.
