Happy 250th Birthday to the United States.
This reminds me of when my dad, who had me when he was older, turned 90. I absolutely loved him to bits, even if he was racist, homophobic, and transphobic Zionist. He still raised a decent family and lived a rich and fulfilling life. But by that time, he was bedridden after a progressing hydrocephalus ex vacuo, resulting in a number of strokes and TIAs. Within a few months, he stopped responding all together, fell into a coma, and pretty much died in his sleep. I loved him to death, even his really problematic parts, but in the end I just had to accept that his time had come. All good things end, no matter how hard with love them.
So, to the Americans out there, I know this is a really hard time. I know that you love your nation, that even if it's problematic and sometimes hurtful. I know that you have to confront the fact that your nation is very much on its death bed. That's hard, I'm not going to split hairs here. But know that there is a future, because the America that replaces the United States that you have now is going to bring a much brighter future.
Hopefully the America that replaces the United States treats all people with respect, not just the old white men who wrote the rules so that no one else could prosper but them. The nation's foundation was that of a genocidal slave state, and when there were no more indigenous to slaughter, and slavery was outlawed, those old white men refocused their efforts. Firstly, they created a panopticon where unless you worked, you'd have no access to affordable healthcare and would go into debt for the slightest ailments, and where there were no supports to help dig you out of a hole, creating a truly multicultural slave state that included white people. Secondly, they refocused their genocidal cleansing to the Global South, the Middle East, and Asia---as long as there were brown children to kill, you could count on an American bomb to "get the job done". So America never really changed as it's still very much a genocidal slave state.
The fact remains that America needs to die because there is no fixing that core problem. Washington is completely broken, Wall Street is engaged in mass theft, and Silicon Valley is ruining the world one Data Center at a time. Your politicians are openly corrupt and fuck children. Your tax dollars go to murdering brown children, but never feeding, educating, or helping you or your neighbors. The police are there to keep you in check so that you don't resist your corporate overlords. Every American pretty much functions as a number on a spreadsheet to exploit for 70-ish years until they die from some stress related illness.
So happy 250th Birthday, America. Like with my dad, I know what's coming around the corner. It's sad, but everything must die.
