A/N: This is something that I started for fun. I'm not sure when I'll finish it or how long it will be in the end, but here's a sneak peak of it.
Rain pelted against the broken window in the room as my eyes opened to the light of the rising sun. The humidity was also high.
Rolling over, I stood up from the floor, and exited the room, avoiding stepping on any limbs. They would be up in just a little while.
I walked to the kitchen, not to eat, but to get my shoes on. There wasn't hardly any food these days and the kids would need it more.
Opening the door, I headed down the familiar path to the fields that were filled with all sorts of vegetables. Not for us though.
I saw a few guards as usual patrolling around as a few others like me arrived to work. We were scheduled shifts, but it's not like we had anything else to do, so most of us would spend the whole day working.
"Y/N!" My friend Nelly called out as she arrived. "Do you think we met the quota this week?"
"I hope so, the people in my housing could really use the extra money." I responded.
"Mine too. How can they expect us to keep working like this on an empty stomach. Thomas even fainted yesterday."
"I heard about that. Poor Mary and their children."
We both crouched down next to the tomato bushes and started picking. It didn't take very long for us to start sweating.
"Y/N….what would you do if you were ever able to get free from poverty?" Nelly asked.
"I'd start a few businesses." I responded. "I get really rich, then buy this whole land so that everyone here could be free to eat whatever they wanted and do whatever they wanted."
"I knew you'd say something like that. Your generosity is probably what attracts the fairies to you."
"You think so…"
Ever since I could remember fairies had always clung to me when the saw me. Whenever I was feeling sad they were always by my side.
"Well, what would you do?" I asked in return.
"I'd like to open a Cafe. And I'd like to own a lot of cats." Nelly replied.
"Then, until both of our dreams come true, let's continue to work har, then we'll work even harder."
We continued to pick tomatoes until all of the baskets at our station were filled.
"I'm gonna go get some rest. I think the heat is getting to me." I told Nelly
"Alright. I'm going to rest to. See you tomorrow." She responded before hurrying off.
Getting back to my assigned housing, it was quiet. I laid down on my blanket, closing my eyes as I felt some faeries surround me as I drifted off.
Soon I was met with the familiarity of my dream space. It was a garden full of beautiful flowers, but it was like a maze.
Every night I tried to get through it, but I was never able to make it to the end. It even seemed to change every time.
I stopped as I spotted a fairy resting on a rose.
"Hello there." I spoke as she stretched her limbs, fully waking up. "I haven't seen you here before."
She smiled at me before flying away. Others, that hadn't noticed, flying out of the rose bush, scattering petals all around.
"Y/N…." A voice startled me, causing me to turn around.
A man stood there his hair the same pure white shade as my own, but his eyes were a sparkling green.
"Who are you?" I asked, stepping back a little. No one had ever been in my dream space before.
"I'm…" the rose bush behind me suddenly lit into flames, startling me.
"What's happening? Did you do this?" I asked the man.
"Don't worry, I promise I'll find you?" He responded.
"Find me? What for? Who are you?!" My hands began to feel as though they were being pricked.
"I promise I'll find you…"
A stinging pain across my palm woke me up with a halt. I felt the heat of the flames before I saw them.
Multiple tiny sets of eyes were looking at me with concern as I began to fully come to my senses. The house was on fire.
I quickly threw a broken piece of wood at the window, shattering it completely so that I was able to escape through it.
"Do you know what has happened?" I asked the fairies as I saw that there was smoke from fires in the distance too.
They shook their heads as they continued to watch me.
"My friend Nelly, can one of you go help her get to safety?" A water fairy nodded his head and flew towards her housing. "Can you lead me somewhere safe?"
The rest nodded, grabbing ahold of my sleeve and pulling me. I let them lead me away.
I noticed the signs that said to stop and not go any further, but I trusted the fairies.
They didn't stop until we reached a river. I watched as a wood fairy morphed some fallen tree limbs.into a boat and put it into the river.
"Will it be a long journey?" I asked him.
He shook his head and motioned for me to get into the boat. I did, making myself comfortable on the seat.
The boat began to move steadily with the help of the fairies magic. Continuing straight for just a little while until a rock structure blocked out path.
I thought we had reached our destination until an earth fair created an opening in the rocks. The boat easily went through as it shut behind us, encasing us in darkness.
It was hard to tell if we were still moving forward if not for a light in the distance that kept getting closer until we emerged back into the outside.
It was different. A good difference though. For the first time in a while I felt relaxed and like I could breath.
"We're so happy that you're here now!" A wind fairy flew right in front of my face. "We've been waiting to bring you here for like ever!"
"You're talking…" I started.
"Duh! You're in the fairy kingdom now, of course you can hear us here."
"Fairy kingdom? Why am I here?"
"Do you really need to ask that. You're here because you are going to be our queen."
"I can't be a queen!" I stood up causing the boat to almost tip.
"Just calm down." A water fairy cut in. "Wish here doesn't exactly know how to….how do you say it….set the mood? No that's not quite right."
"Of course you can be queen." Wish started again. "You're mom was the queen here first, and your father is the King of Udonia. You got royalty girl, on both sides."
"WHAT!?" We had just made it to the shore and I quickly got off the boat. "My parents are…"
"Why do you look so shocked?"
"OH I don't know Wish, maybe it's because she didn't know who her parents were." The water fairy replied.
"Is that why she was living in that horrible place?"
"Why did you think she lived there?"
"Because she really like tomatoes?" Leaning closer to the water fairy, which whispered. "Does that mean her dad abandoned her?"
After letting out a sigh, the water fairy turned his attention back to me. "Let's just get you back to the palace and have Hildrid explain everything to you. Sound good?"
I felt myself getting more dizzy until I finally fainted.
"Well that went well!" Wish exclaimed.
"I do not get enough berries for this." The water fairy sighed.
