Impulse buy #3: The stupid gamble. If this hadn’t turned out OK, she’d have gone into the trash & she may yet still if her “2015 fairy lily” markings turn out to be masking a recast. Please let me know if you recognize the profile as something fishy.
// So background is I’ve been looking for 7/8 sized playline heads to get used to this size as I’m hoping my first BJD will be MSD but to be quite honest i was expecting to purchase something like a Hujoo, Ellowyne or Disney, possibly Obitsu. I have Gooliope and the XL Endless Hair girls in boxes waiting to sell - Gooliope’s body is so wierd with the curved back and neck and the Barbies are just scaled up 1/6th heads and look uncanny. Rainbow high are 7/8 inch too but uh, smooshed. //
I was in a rough state of mind when this head popped up from a seller who sells legitimate old stock and factory rejects. Took me less than a minute to make a decision (bad sign) based on the shape which reminded me of ye luoli 1/4th and the heart design on the back which i vaguely remembered as being sign of a legit vinyl HJD and completely forgot about it until 48h later when I was doing spending/selling recap and BAM it hit me hard that I didn’t do *nearly* enough research and this could be a recast. So not exactly looking forward to her arriving though I’m not going to use the word dread as that’s applied to far too many more serious things these last months. LMAO
Buuuut now that she’s in hand I can see markings that say 2015 Fairy Lily which the internet tells me is used on My Ballerina/Ye Luoli and the heart is definitely their logo (screencaps taken from legit taobao Night Lolita aka Ye Luoli purchases). Phew. She looks to be the 50cm model as seen on their official tmall here and product photos of the 50cm older model show the same headcap and markings.
So for now, proceeding with caution, not getting attached in case someone says “hey that’s a Xname by Ycompany just with a different head cap”. Will do a review once this has been up a while and no-ones chimed in to say it’s a recast.
