#inspirationalplaces may show up in my story....may be a key place, might not be but I’ve had to do extensive research for my book, #leylines #fairycircles #celticroots and so much more went into it before the writing even began. And choosing what #magical places would and wouldn’t make an appearance in the #anthology of the ten stories was quite hard because I don’t wanna leave any place out but given #plot #narrative #characterdevelopment #herosjourney #innerdialogue #externalforces #ethics I couldn’t use every place I got the pleasure of researching now I’m older it’s literally ten years later the premises of some of the ten stories has changed, so we’ll see what I keep and what I leave out. ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️ (at Wheaton, Illinois)
It may not look like much, but this is one of the legendary fairy circles of Namibia - unexplained patches of sand with no vegetation, fairly evenly sized and spaced out. Scientists still don't know how they're formed! Theories range from aliens to methane with the current front runner attributing them to termite activity! Perhaps we'll never fully know, and there is a little bit of the magic. #Namibia #overland #conservation #fairycircles #namib #desert #dunes

Coastal Redwoods
A lot of travelers are drawn to our coastal redwoods which actually range from southern Oregon down to our very own, Big Sur, California. Coastal redwoods do not grow naturally any further south than Big Sur and exceptional redwoods can live up to 2,000 years! These trees are among the oldest living things on earth. In ideal conditions a coastal redwood can grow 2-3 feet in height annually.
These trees have shallow root systems that extend over one hundred feet from the base, intertwining with the roots of other redwoods. They are naturally resistant to insects, fungi, and fire because they are high in tannin and do not produce resin or pitch.
Redwood trees flower during the wet and rainy months of December and January and produce cones that mature the next fall. Redwood cones are about an inch long and they produce tiny seeds, about the same size as a tomato seed. While each tree can produce 100,000 seeds annually, the germination rate is very low. Most redwoods grow more successfully from sprouts that form around the base of a tree, utilizing the nutrients and root system of a mature tree. When the parent tree dies, a new generation of trees rise, creating a circle of trees that are called fairy circles.
