It has been some time since I took Tjark to the sea, but as his teenage son was about to cause havoc again it was better for him to be around to do what fathers have to do when children misbehave.

and here's my last doll purchase of the year! at least he'd better be, I've already got to rearrange the shelves to make room for what's already come in.

anyway, this is a minifee spring 2017 head on a fairyline altis body. the fit isn't perfect, but it works. I'm thinking of going with a carnival/circus theme for this guy. he's got one hand perfect for holding a fancy cane, and I think he'd look cute with a tailcoat.

Some posing pictures of the new fl mermaid tail

She kneels and pretty effortlessly.

She also stands, which I love.

It takes a bit of balancing, but it was the same with the seahorse tail and that one had a lot more joints that could misbehave, so imo this one is easier to get to stand.

So. Okay.

I was a bit bummed when I tried to sit her down, because... she couldn't. The tail/hip doesn't bend enough to get her torso up enough so she wouldn't lean back again. I was actually wondering how fl achieved the sitting photos and tbh? Still not sure. Feels like the torso was gaping a lot and they pushed in some paper ball or something...

Because mine just is held up by her arms supporting and she still doesn't sit as Akis.

BUT.

I took inspiration from how the seahorse tail works, and they turn one of the parts around for some poses, so I tried it and... Tadaaa!

She can sit!

It's not how they did it, because in FL's photo you can still see the tiny fins at the front, but well. It works 🤷‍♀️

It gaps just a bit, but the hip joint kinda snaps right in place as if it was made to be used like that 😅

Pretty happy with it again now, even though I still think it's a bit of a shitty thing to do and put out photos that are impossible to achieve with the doll =")

Finally made some pictures of my harpy in progress. I'll maybe change the head though, this is a Fairyland Celine but I think my Fairyland Siean would work better. I had the legs since January 2020, the wings since December 2020, and now it's October 2021 and I've finally taken some pictures. I'm starting to get back into the hobby. It's definitely no longer my only hobby though, but I'm not leaving it either. I don't know, I still love them too much.

The posing is amazing though. The harpy feet definitely help keeping the balance because the wings do have some weight, and I'm impressed with how well the knees can hold all of this. The posing of the wings is also really good, the tension of the string is just right and the magnets Fairyland used are very strong.
