The Seed Family and Their Colors

❇︎ ~ 1. Colors we associate them with.
Jacob, John, and Faith all have distinct colors that we associate with them.
Jacob - Red
John - Blue
Faith - Green
Joseph does not, at least not in the same way as the others. This is because he’s all of them. He’s the “puppeteer.” He’s the leader and [basically] makes them to do the things they do. (to an extent)
Let’s talk about these colors first.

Red is known to symbolize some of the following things:
Strength
Energy
Passion
Danger
Anger
Love
Seduction
Jacob has all of these traits and is known for many of them.
Through Jacob’s trials, you have to prove your strength. The trials are known for being dangerous, and hard. Only the worthy pass them. He managed to manipulate (”seduce”) the Deputy into killing Eli with the help of these trials.
Jacob is doing this mostly because of his love for Joseph, and not simply because he believes Joseph is telling the truth about talking to God. (as he tells us in his dying cut scene)
But he also does it because he’s passionate about proving his point: Weak vs Strong.
He’s intense, scary. And he’s angry at the world because it is weak, while he is supposed to be the embodiment of “strong.”

Blue is known to symbolize some of the following things:
Confidence
Loyalty
Trust
Success
Purpose
Stability
Authority
Depression
Sadness
John is known for many of these, too. But perhaps not in the way you think.
(John, stable? ;) )
Outwardly, John is confident. He is the embodiment of success (at least in his own eyes, and compared to his two brothers)
His role in Eden’s Gate is basically to introduce you to it, but also prepare you for it. (by making you atone for your sins, and cleansing you of them) You trust him with your life; your secrets, because he has promised you peace.
As mentioned before; in his life, he did succeed more than his brothers. He managed to rise to the top, become a great lawyer, and gain a fortune. Which also proved his intelligence. He appeared at the top. (compared to Jacob, who was discharged from the army, suffering from PTSD and remaining a shell of the person he used to be. And Joseph, who spent most of his adulthood looking for his brothers, not staying in places for long due to this. Who also lost his wife and daughter.)
But the same cannot be said about John on the inside. He tried to hide it, but he was affected by his childhood and the trauma he got from both the Seeds and Duncans. This, in turn, introduced him to the addiction to drugs and sex - unhealthy coping mechanisms.
He was “saved” by Joseph, but he was still trapped.
All he wants to do is prove to Joseph that he is good and that he does things because he loves him, but it is not accepted with open arms by Joseph. This, in turn, makes him sad.
Is John stable? No, but he was given some sort of stability from Joseph, who “keeps him in check.”
But not only that, he also provides some sort of stability for the members of Eden’s Gate. (even though, it’s kind of fucked up.)
He was given a new purpose by Joseph, one that he holds very dear.

Green is known to symbolize some of the following:
Nature
Growth
Hope
Life
Poison
Envy
Harmony
Jealousy
Guilt
Peaceful
This explains Faith’s purpose,
Faith, meaning the role. And in turn, the personality she is supposed to have, and the things she is supposed to do.
The green color is the color of the Bliss.
The bliss signifies something that is supposed to “help” the members of Eden’s Gate.
It is supposed to bring peace; supposed to give you hope. It helps you grow, and become the person you are supposed to be. (in their eyes)
It is supposed to show you the life you can be given.
But it is actually a poison.
It controls you and weakens you. Too much of it can turn you into an angel…
Meaning, it kills your soul.
Faith is supposed to be a woman who will give you hope, and faith in Joseph.
But it almost always turns the woman “envious”
Envious of the life that was stolen from them.
❇︎ ~ 2. The Colors they wear are the colors of their true self and their purpose. (or so, I believe)

Jacob wears a camouflage military jacket, which tells us he was a veteran who fought in war. But I think it also tells us a little about him.
He camouflages; he hides his true feelings behind a bold exterior. Because he has always been seen as strong, by his brothers and others. While inside, he believes the opposite.
His grey shirt also tells us about him.
The color grey is known to symbolize some of the following:
Neutral
Logical
Practical
Reserved
Sad
Conservative
Jacob is neutral on Joseph’s cause, meaning, he doesn't care if Joseph is telling the truth or not, but he follows him, and does what he says because he loves him.
Throughout his life, he has shown us that he is logical and practical. Taking a lot of inspiration from the past, and nature: what it does to our bodies, and how we can survive. Most of his actions are done because of logical explanations (at least, to him)
He’s reserved; showing us only what he wants us to see. But he is also quite conservative, and by that I mean; he wants us to go back to our past, when we weren't as dependent on technology. When we were truly surviving, and not just living. (living the so-called “easy life.”)
He wears dirty, well-worn blue jeans. Telling us he doesn't really care about his appearance. But also, if we look at what the color can symbolize, that he has trust for those he loves. And that he is intelligent.
(quite a stretch; but remember what blue could symbolize! ;) )

John’s blue shirt symbolizes the points I made earlier: he’s intelligent, trusting, loyal, and depressed. (To recap it)
But the rest of his clothing is black.
Black usually symbolizes things such as:
Power
Mystery
Elegance
Prestige
Sinister
Evil
Death
John is powerful, and he likes it. He likes the idea of torture; he’s quite sadistic and enjoys inflicting pain on his followers. (and himself)
But he is elegant, or rather; he wants to appear elegant, powerful, and successful. While truly, he is quite sinister, and in a lot of cases, pretty ‘evil.’
There is also a mystery to him. He is a lot of things. You never really know what he wants, or why he does the things he does.

Faith wears a white dress with pink flowers.
She is the only character I believe Ubisoft had reasons for putting her in these clothes specifically.
White is known for:
Purity
Innocence
Honesty
Goodness
Faith
It is also, in a lot of cultures, the color of the bride.
Pink symbolizes:
Romance (romantic)
Femininity
Innocence
Youth
Softness
Faith is supposed to appear as an innocent girl. She is supposed to bring peace and purity to Eden’s Gate.
And she kind of is, for the most part.
Rachel is soft spoken and easily brings you in. You listen to her, and you like her. She appears quite youthful, and feminine. And also very innocent.
This, in turn, causes most players to feel sympathy for her, and feel bad for her. (whereas they usually meet the brothers with disdain and dislike, while they have suffered just as much abuse as Rachel.)
She’s manipulative, yes, but she does a lot of the things she does because Joseph tells her to. (It’s her “purpose”)
She tells us she was drugged and threatened to join Eden’s Gate. And the “Collapse” DLC hints that this might actually be the case. (which I believe)
Tracey describes her as being naive; someone who agreed with people just to keep the peace.
The green in her dress symbolizes the bliss. But perhaps also the hope she had in Joseph when she joined, and perhaps also the loyalty she has for people, despite their true intentions.
The gold in her dress might symbolize some things, too.
Gold is known to symbolize:
Prosperity
Optimism
Influence
Success
Pretentious
The gold is not very apparent, and I’d say the same for these traits in her.
She is supposed to bring prosperity to the members of Eden’s Gate. Her influence on Eden's Gate is profound. And without her bliss, they wouldn't have been as successful as they were.
She is also quite optimistic, always trying to see the good in people, and Deputy. Despite being proven otherwise.

Last, but not least; Joseph.
Joseph wears mostly black, but has a white shirt underneath.
His white shirt represents what Joseph and his followers believe he is; the bringer of peace.
He brings peace and purity to the world. He appears, to his followers, as a person of good nature, who brings hope to a better life.
But in truth, he is empty. (which white also symbolizes)
His black clothing signifies his true nature.
He is powerful. He is the leader of Eden’s Gate and can command them to do whatever he wants. And therefore, he has great authority.
But his hand brings death, and he is much more sinister than his followers claim him to be.
Buuuut, he is also broken.
His yellow glasses also tell us about him.
Yellow typically means:
Happy
Optimistic
Friendliness
Energy
Caution
Intellect
Fear
Joseph appears friendly and has no problem gaining people who trust him. He is supposed to be everyone’s friend; the one you can turn to, the one who can save you.
But he sees the world through his yellow glasses; he is cautious of people’s true nature, which causes him to be afraid. Most things happening in Eden’s Gate are not things Joseph does, but things he orders.
While he seems pessimistic with his approach, he is optimistic it will work, and he is happy with what he’s doing - because he believes he is helping.

This was just a fun little analysis of the characters and their actions. I know Ubisoft didn't dress them in these colors to tell us who they are, but I thought it was fun how the colors do show us who they are, to an extent! So, yes, overdone by me, perhaps!
