@faithstar sent : " someone missed their dada. " copia murmured, holding up dusk who upon seeing phantom let out a happy squeal of delight before wiggling in copia's arms to try & get to phantom.
he'd been gone longer than expected . he had just intended to go to the nearest music store to stock up on picks and strings , maybe grab a new strap or two . nothing too crazy . but he'd forgotten just how much there was to look at , how many stores there were . he didn't go out often , not on his own . and even then , his outings were with copia or ghouls to grab a drink or something of the sort . but on his own in the middle of the day ? there's so much more to look at , so much more to get distracted by .
the first things he'd grabbed really had been picks and strings and a couple of really cool straps . but when he'd stepped outside , there was a toy store right across the street and all he could think of was how much dusk would love to have something new to snuggle up to . he'd promised himself it would only be one thing , maybe two . he had promised himself he'd limit it because he didn't want to completely fill their nursery with plushies or toys . but by the time he was stepping out , he had a bag full of toys and clothes that he couldn't wait to show his little family .
when he finally did walk back into the suite , he wandered into the living room , sheepish smile on his lips as he put several bags on one couch so that he could turn his attention to copia and little dusk . " oh , i'm sorry dusky . dad got a little distracted . " an embarrassed laugh as he takes the kit from his mate's arms . he cuddles the little one against his chest , cradling them with one arm , the other reaching into a bag to pull out a stuffed rat . a grin is tossed to copia before he takes the rat in hand end taps it against dusk's nose to pull a series of giggles from the kit . " i couldn't resist . i would've bought the whole store if i could've gotten it home . "
@faithstar asked: " ehhh i do not think they like me very much sorella. " he murmured, looking down into the fiery red hues of meteor who did not seem pleased to be situated in copia's arms. the tiny kit was letting out a steady growl, little tail lashing about behind him.
" Hm, that's strange. Maybe it has something to do with you completely blocking me out from doing covers and releasing one of your own under my reign. " Perpetua replies BITTERLY to her twin before taking a slow and notably deep inhale. Outwardly showing her frustration wouldn't make this moment any better and it certainly wouldn't improve Meteor's current behavior if the kit sensed that their mother was frustrated in any way towards the person holding them. It's not like she had any TIME to record new material anyways with the tour continuing so soon, but regardless of that fact it still felt like a stab in the back.
Carefully she fixes the wild tufts of hair on Meteor's head, trying her best to soothe them of their SOUR mood with her close presence. " No, don't take it personally. They're like this with everyone they meet most of the time. Brim figures it's a mix of their elements and the time they spent alone before we summoned them topside. " She could only imagine how FRIGHTENING it must have been for the little one to be left in such a harsh world without any protection. " How are your kits faring these days, fratello? "

CHEEKS FLUSH AS CARDI PULLS FLOWERS from behind his back as she lets her suite door close behind her . it isn't as though it's their first date … but it is the first that has been a stay at home , order dinner , and spend time alone in her own place . she isn't even sure she's invited anyone back to her suite … none of the siblings , none of the ghouls . anytime there's been A GIRL'S GATHERING , it had been in a den or common room that could hold everyone . her suite would never be large enough for that . but … it was large enough for this . large enough for the nerves in her chest as she reached out towards the flowers cardi's offered her .
hands wrap , perhaps too tightly , around the stems of the bouquet , brown eyes pulling from cardi to look down at the flowers in her hands . she can't help THE BROAD SMILE that pulls across her lips . she's never gotten flowers before . not from someone she was dating at least . and she might want to get used to it . an awkward silence before she perks up to put them into a vase in the middle of her coffee table that had come with the suite , suddenly thankful that she'd never put it away or GIVEN IT TO AN EARTH GHOUL . she frets with them before disappearing to grab a glass to pour water into the vase , sets the glass on the coffee table , and promptly forgets it exists .
she turns back towards cardi , hands clasped in front of her , suddenly feeling bare in a sundress with brown waves falling around her shoulders . but she pushes forward , taking a few steps so that she can WRAP HER ARMS AROUND HIS NECK for a hug that feels like it means far more than just a hug . lips press softly to his cheek before she breaks contact , cheeks burning . “ they're beautiful … i forgot to say that , didn't i ? ”

" Did they? " The quintessence ghoul questions with a rough growl in the back of their throat, masked features glance over to read the expression on Copia's face. To their surprise their was no FEAR, no nervousness where there usually was a certain amount, just a man confirming the rumors of what others have whispered about the ghoul who spent a majority of their days and nights in the mortuary. " You'd do right to be wise and heed their warnings, cardinal. " He was blissfully UNAWARE about Void's past, knew nothing of the tragedies that have befallen humanity and ghouls alike that had all done by their hand. There was more than enough reason to be wary of them...and yet Void admittedly would feel much lonelier without his presence. It's the first show of kindness that they've had in many years. Too many to count.
Slowly, they turn back to the cadaver laying on the table in front of them. One that they'd given at Copia's request for a NEWLY deceased body that had yet to undergo the embalming process. What the cardinal planned to do with it was none of Void's business, they just hoped that it was approved by Sister Imperator lest the hellfire rain down upon them for being so careless at their job. " No illness or disease as far as I've been able to sense. He died of the natural aging process just as you wanted. Let me know when you're finished. " Gloved hands CROSS at their wrists behind their back before Void steps away from the metal table to give Copia some room.
