Basilisk are not Snakes

The snake like creature the Basilisk is offend miss-labeled as a snake

but their is one deal they always show that tells you they are not a snake

Did you see it?  It’s the teeth

so maybe a tree snake? I believe that Basilisks are infect a relative of the slowworm, a legless snake like lizard.

They have teeth much more in line with a  Basilisks, see a picture of their skull

In conclusion Basilisks are a type of slowworm
