the start of the next chapter of shelter from the storm...

This woman is… unusual. Falk’s brow furrows, inspecting the mirrored scene as it plays out before-around him. The woman isn’t human, that much is obvious- he’s seen humans who play dress-up with eras long past. He’s seen murders and mistakes, where costumes are ripped aside to draw mobile telephones, desperate pleas to human authorities to bring their paltry excuse for justice. She bares her teeth in vicious grin, leaning over her opponent, dark blonde hair a tangled cascade, torn free from binding and helm. The swordpoint leveled at their throat is perfectly still and steady, ready to strike. But there’s a realness here that speaks to an authentic experience. Like the old wolf that had settled in the village behind-above, back in Falk’s own early judgements, who still thought on how he’d cheated his brother in love in their headstrong youth, some two hundred years past. The old wolf had never wavered in his decision, honorably standing by his crime. Would that all could have such courage.
