Golden sunlight spilled in through glass panes, all it touched set aglow.
Spring had yet to commence, the ground frosted over late in the night into early morning.
Cherry's fingers oftenmore fell victim to the cold.
The air held a chill, any breath expelled beyond indoors a plume of condensation.
Daylight grew stronger as winter faded but the crisp weather was unforgiving all the same.
High or low, frigid weather found a way.
Soon the icy ground would be no more and grass would retain it's vibrant green.
Not for some time, though.
For now, the windows were drawn closed and locked, no flowing breeze to grace her face, unless she dared step outside.
Which was no fret, until only the cold kissed her fingertips, until her cheeks went a shade of unnatural pink and shivers threatened to seize her body.
Cherise would rather not face discolored skin and freezing air in her lungs.
Just the steady warmth of indoors, under blankets and accompanied by steaming cups of tea.
Honey and sugar swirled in until it melted to the bottom of the decorative cup.
Heat billowed from the vents in an attempt to warm the space, a soft sound that kicked in.
It disturbed the once idle and poise state of her dress.
The nightgown was over the top, draping well past her feet, loose enough to breathe, ruffled at the top and the color of blush.
It captured her attention long enough for Falk to drift back over.
With ease, he slinked back to his rightful place at her side.
The pastries on the kitchen island long forgotten, of which she had him try, even just a bite.
Ever reluctantly, he did so for her.
It still made her smile, dimples and all, over how the simplest things were abnormal, unusual, strange to him, purely human, as he dated one.
Things that were foreign concepts to him, while to her it was merely everyday life.
Introducing them to him one by one wasn't growing old.
No matter what she concocted, there was never a time he could bring himself to say no to her, it seemed.
The present beckoned her, nothing new to ambush him with in sight.
With a refilled cup of tea, he leaned back against the wall, a pillow at his back.
His long legs outstretched while hers were curled aside her, tucked away under fabric.
He was the moon wrapped in shades of a midnight sky, grey dappled in color.
The inner sleeves colored the morning rise with silver embroidery lining.
Even his sleep clothes held a certain mystique, the style too romantic (in her eyes) to be considered remotely casual.
His hair splayed out in all it's glory, no braid in sight and silky in the frames of light.
The morning was lazy, filled with whispers and kisses interchangeably.
A rare dawn where she didn't have to rush off, where she could linger.
Much to his delight instead of dismay of her being stolen away.
The rest of Wayhaven still slumbered as the sun shone.
The sheer curtains splayed open to let the light spill in just enough, lest they catch sight of Falk.
Explaining that away to some poor couple wouldn't bode well.
Risk was something they had come to toe the line of, experiment with how far they could go without being caught. Skipping on slippery stepping stones, mishap or not, they'd bound through or fall together.
It was a steep hill, whether it was them lounging near an open window or Falk surprising her during work and kissing her senseless.
It had been so since the beginning of their relationship.
"You look like a dream wrapped in gossamer."
The fairytale like words crept up on her, dragging her gaze to meet his.
Just to find he was already staring, so many indescribable things in the depths of inky black encased in gold.
"And you're a vision in sunlight."
Throwing compliments at each other until the other gave in seemed to be another game of theirs.
There was an urge to be closer, to feel his warmth, go lax under his touch, hear the beat of his heart.
And so the only rational next step was to cast aside her teacup and settle herself on his lap.
It took him by faint and fleeting surprise, setting aside the glass occupying his hand to welcome her into his arms.
Usually it was him inspiring color in her cheeks but she caught the way it spread across his skin.
Cherise leaned in, intent clear across her face before hovering.
"The only human incapable of resisting supernatural charm and you just couldn't help yourself, could you?"
It was so easy to fall under his spell, be drawn in by his nature.
A heart-devastating grin pulled at his lips. "I think my being equally as besotted with you makes up for it, wouldn't you say?"
Falk closes the gap between them, nose gently bumping hers as they rest together.
A man so eloquent you could never picturing him tripping over his own feet, and on occasion did so in her name.
Unable to draw another breath in his presence, she put them out of their misery with a simple kiss.
The simplicity of it didn't last as he deepened the contact, his tongue delved in to intermingle with hers.
With no second though, she melted into him, not because of any sun but because of his warmth.
It was no secret, how he wished to be the sunshine on her skin, to be the gold always wrapped around her.
Except he was, and with every kiss, they were silver and gold melted. Timeless.
His hand smoothed over her rapid pulse, whether to soothe it or induce it, she didn't know.
There was nothing besides this.
Soft lips, softer whispers, softened hearts.
Time was no object here, not this day.
Lost to what was between them, neither of their grasp on the other faltered.
Breaking free from the kiss, laughter spilled from her lips as he chased after her.
Covering her in his affection, one brush of his lips at a time.
In all their shared time, this was all she had come to know.
Happiness, Understanding, Love.
More like resting then running.
His dipped down head rose up, eyes raking over her and taking in the sight.
Cherise noticed the slight squint to his eyes, readjusting to the light. So she reached past him and drew the heavier drapes closed.
The room was cloaked in shadow, the suns rays warded off, for a time.
While he beamed in sunlight, there was still an endurance to it
Watching on as he blinked a few times, as she came back into focus.
There was a sparkly quality to his eyes, as if stars were laden into them and beholden with such a warmth they couldn't help but melt golden instead of gleaming silver.
Her fingers ran through his hair, drifting through the strands.
Falk's arm snaked around her waist, as if to ensure there was no chance of her flitting away.
Just as the sun rose, they would find themselves this way again as it set.
Under the welcoming gleam of the moon, no space between them in it's glow.

It feels so good to have a piece done! I haven't posted about them in months but they're always on my mind <3
Replaying book 2 and Falk is making me swoon 😭 he’s gotta stop I’m tryna be committed to Nate
Aah, Falk…Even in Book Two I couldn’t stop myself from having even hints at antagonist romances lol! :D
At least I get to actually write one for Book Four, though I will say I am SERIOUSLY excited for the vampire romances to progress! There’s some major things coming up for those long term romances…hehe! ;)
I would love to know more!!! No pressure!!! Mine was made up on the spot haha, but do you have an au in mind for falk x sin x suri? (How do Falk and Sin end up in Suri's playthroughs?)
Hello, PD beloved! Thank you for this question!!
Alas, I don’t have an au for them, but you have had me thinking about the possibilities (I love your mind so much). Though ever since it was announced that there would be the opportunity for a villain romance in book four, and meeting Li-Sar, I have been thinking of the possibilities of others that could be romanced. For Suri, that would have been Falk and Sin
To me, Falk and Sin are not villains per se, but the antagonists of their story. Murphy, villain. The Auctioneer, villain. Li-Sar is truly a villain and I am very excited to get into the romance in the next book (I usually don’t really do the villain romances but I am intrigued!).
For Suri, Falk and Sin (separately):
Falk: It took me several playthroughs to understand it all with Falk. With Suri, and Suri on the Nate route, there is just so much unresolved sexual and romantic tension built up through the route. She’s teetering on the edge the entire time, she thinks she’s falling in love, Adam gave Nate a warning and she only heard Nate agree, then she kissed Bobby, (I think) Nate kissed her jaw sometime later … and Falk came through her mirror, and there was something simmering between them, too, and her sleepy mind was all a jumble … and given the chance? Well, Suri is only human! In need of a pop off valve! (idk if she would have slept with him but a make out session would be more likely) In the playthrough, Suri maintained high Falk points (while telling him she didn’t agree with his form of judgement), and was able to save both Nate and Sanja and get the Maa-Alused to sign the treaty - best outcome for everyone
Now, outside of a Nate romance! Suri would still be upset at Falk and the Maa-Alused actions - that is her town, those are her friends, and she wouldn’t understand why he chose there to set up and start the judgements that made people ill. There would be an intrigue with Falk, there would be a deeper need of understanding with him, and she would have liked to forge a friendship. To start. If he came in through the mirror, waking her up, she would have invited him in, further into her room and well, her bed. I don’t necessarily see her falling in love with him, but I see her wanting to know more about him and his family, specifically. See her ensuring the Agency keeps them happy. They’d have a long-term friendship. With occasional (more than occasional) benefits
Sin: Oh, I love Sin! One of my favorite characters, and I really would have loved to have seen more of him and gotten to get to know him better. During the playthrough, Suri was dating Nate so no sense of any sort of romantic feelings for Sin. She was truly, madly, deeply in love with Nate and declared it. She did flirt with Sin a few times, because she enjoys flirting, and took that approach with Sin to try to keep her and the woman alive in the crumbling warehouse. At the auction, Sin declared his alliance with her but not to the Agency. Which is better than she could have hoped for. Really, she felt so terrible for him with the false soul bond, and it made her happy that she could see him finally free to live his life
Suri outside of a N romance, or anyone romance? Could and possibly would have felt some sort of deep ache in her chest with Sin, and after learning about the soul bonds? Would have wondered if maybe they … the two of them … could see if there was possibly a real soul bond between them. Of course, not something she’d broach during the story. She would have been focused on saving the children, rescuing Tapeesa, shutting down the auction, and breaking the false soul bond (she might have asked Farah and Nate’s help with that, if it didn’t happen when the auctioneer met whatever ending they had - they were taken in on my playthrough). But when Sin is about to leave, telling her he would be aligned/loyal to her — well, she’d ask him to find her again, soon, after it all settles. She’ll keep the Agency at bay, or at least ask Rebecca to keep the Agency at bay. The yearning to come would be real, she would think the time spent waiting would be worth it. Because she feels it, and hopes that it’s real, and he feels it, too (she is a romantic at heart, and knows when it’s there, she’ll know it in the depths of her soul)
One thing that would be different with these romances versus with Li-Sar, I don’t think she will as worried about Unit Bravo’s reactions (they’ll likely be far more understanding). They will still be her closest friends
Thank you again so so much for asking! This was a lot of fun to think about
