Watcher Ungoril asked Watcher Zuri to go with him to visit Merdaniel's home in M-085. She was hesitant but ended up giving in.
While they were there, Maricela returned from a trip to Sulani in the M-085 Savefile. The Antilles (Sixam-085) are as beautiful as Sulani. But as a type of Sixam, it is dark most of the time. Even as an occult, Maricela craves the sunlight in the Savefiles and wishes they could live in Sulani-085 instead of The Antilles.
She came into the house in a foul mood. A mix of disappointment over the gloomy weather in the middle of the day and the presence of visitors. She was unfriendly and refused to greet Zuri, which gave Ungoril a bad first impression.
Merdaniel: Gor, please don't use those analyzing abilities on her.
Gor: I'm trying to understand why the wife of a merfolk chief lacks hospitality. Even Madam Sinclair pretended to be the sweetest sim in the universe when she lived here with Kaiso before the war. As an enamourer, Ungoril focuses on moodlets, the romance bar, and satisfaction levels. Before Jesse, he would micromanage interactions and choose moodlet giving items in his builds to maintain whatever status The Cube ordered for his watched-sims. He married his true love in his own life but when it comes to the pixel puppets, he has no problem building and destroying relationships on any Cube-given whim. Thinking about Jesse's life experiences and his traits is challenging for him.
As a (per)scriber/trait-giver, Zuri always looks beyond what's on "paper." Trait-givers are labelled as rebels because they often disobey The Cube (no matter who is in charge) but they are also considered the most intuitive. She did not consider the romance bar between Oasis and Jesse to be a success. She likes Oasis and was excited about the thought of soulmates finding each other again. But that excitement quickly faded. Oasis is a unique adult reincarnation and does not act like a healed sim that is simply attracted to familiar pixels... Zuri wants more time and help from Healer Juniper to help Oasis be Oasis. But she also does not want to take away Oasis' autonomy.
Zuri: Do you want to play chess before I leave, Maricela? We can get to know each other.
Maricela: I think I know all I need to know about you.
Zuri starts a chess game to force Maricela to engage through her genius trait. Maricela is a mermaid occult now but she is not an immortal with a special gift and has no choice but to follow. This vulnerability in mortal occults vs. immortal occults is part of the reason why Merdaniel has been avoiding his wife. As a protector, he can calm her down instantly against her will and he did it once when a fight felt too intense. But he felt guilty after.
Zuri: Well, since you know about me, how about I talk about you? You love hearing about how fun you are, right? And how much sims love to be around you? The exciting party animal?
Maricela *in a trance*: Yes.
Zuri: Well, don't you think Damie would love to hear about how wonderful he is? Wouldn't he love to feel like the hero instead of the villain in his own house? I'm not saying you need to be a damsel in distress.
He may have gotten his merman song when you were hurt but he wanted you when you were killing it at work and bracing his storms to do your research. He can handle feisty.
But he also needs to be protected when he comes home. To feel like he can be himself without you twisting everything he says. That's his idea of a good time. And -
Merdaniel: I knew Gor was being too friendly. Z, come, please.

Zuri: 30mins. Maybe a bit more.
Merdaniel: I chose not to talk to you about her because of this. I don't want you trying to reprogram my wife.
Zuri: I'm not reprograming her. I'm just making your needs make more sense to her party animal trait. She's free to do what she wants when she snaps out of it.
Merdaniel: You made it make sense? You don't think I tried to talk to her?
Zuri: I do. But I know her type.
Zuri: Yes. Her type. Mermaid kelp and a wedding ring wouldn't change her essence, Damie. And if you're going to be with her for as
long as she's here, I'm not going to watch you blame -
Merdaniel: You don't have to watch anything. You're not my watcher, Z.
Zuri: I know I'm not. But I can't help that I love you so I need you to be happy. I need her to make you happy.
