video review || Best Reading Month Ever?? —June Wrap Up || 20 books!
Unsurprisingly, I fell in love with this series and am already continuing on. I think I was crying more than not while reading this. The found family? Impeccable. So damn heartwarming, but also part of the reason I was a sobbing mess. The characters? Vivid and realistic. Oh and the development of them? Particularly Ox?? Perfection. The way you can see Ox's maturity and confidence grow through the writing, the word choice, the structure, the increased dialogue??? So impressive and unexpected in a story such as this.
The love story starts as childhood friends, a simple connection that builds over a decade into something more. When we first met Joe, I didn't think I'd ever see him and Ox in a romantic light, but it builds and builds until you can't deny there's more chemistry there than friendship. There's angst (like a lot ( A lot a lot ( A LOT))), but there's also healing and growing together. There's just so much love in this story, and not just romantic. Idk if I can even explain my thoughts any better.
