Rainy morning and studying for my politics exam

Posting a jack-o-lantern pumpkin to poke my head in and say hello Tumblr friends. It's hard to believe it's been almost two months since I posted last.

I have been battling illness myself - spending many o days in bed and medicated just to avoid a hospital stay; dealing with a couple small life catastrophes (tree limb fell on powerline, bringing it onto our house); and one fairly major catastrophic event with my older dog Bella. She fell awkwardly getting out of the car and hurt herself and may need major knee surgery in both knees, but we won't know for another week. On top of that, we found out Bella has Cushing's disease, which is what has caused her to stay a bit pudgy despite all the exercise and food changes.

I am proud of myself this last week! I was able to carry Bella, a 65lb dog, a full neighborhood block (about 10 houses) back to my house. after she walked too far trying to potty. I had to stop and rest a couple times, but I mom-hulked out and took care of my precious furbaby. I had some of the strangest comments/looks from my neighbors, only one of whom offered to help. For reference I am 5'3" and weigh 125 lbs. I can only imagine what we looked like - me carrying her like a lamb, huffing and puffing stopping every few yards for a break. And, no, it doesn't matter that I couldn't walk for 3 days after that, the point is She didn't have to, when she couldn't.

We also had a trip to Colorado in the beginning of October, to visit our son. It was nice but also nerve wracking with how sick I have been. I was worried I'd be in bed the whole time, but with enough medication, was able to manage and have a pretty good time since we kept it pretty low key.

Since I haven't painted in the same amount of time as posting, I am working on getting back to things since I am sitting up and also not putting out some crazy 'fire' around here. Fingers crossed!
