my september scents
·༻𐫱༺· since its october now I can compile what I most wore last month. I associate september with the start of clases and school again, the end of summer, the weather getting colder. The sun is starting to set earlier, the wind making itself heard.
Vietnamese Coffee-d'Annam
🗝 I bought this scent during the summer but september was the perfect start to wearing it. I rarely buy such expensive frangrances but the hype around this is well deserved. It is mornings before class, making my coffee to start the day. Feels wonderful in the fresh morning air, and brings a certain creamy sweetness that lasts through the day.
Poem a day-And Other Stories
🗝 A silky, sweet vanilla. Going to a literature class, studying ancient sapphic poetry. The florals give it a freshness and charm, but the caramel and pistachio bring out a comforting warmth. I wish the star anise notes were stronger but overall very wearable and affordable.
Paperback-Demeter
🗝 One of my favorite photo-realistic scents, I love the creativity of Demeters fragrances. At first spray it has a very alcohol like scent that i dont enjoy, but quickly settles into the skin. This is something I find happens with demeter fragrances in general and ive learned to expect. Feels like an old dusty library, studying classic literature. A second hand bookshop run by an old lady, finding a title youve never heard of before. Yellow stained pages, a fading cover.
Byzantium-Tesori d'Oriente
🗝 This was my main bedtime fragrance last month. Extremely affordable and lasts forever, I would wake up still smelling it and my nightgowns all carry this scent now. Powdery vanila and comforting almond. Having a goodnight tea, drifting into unconsciousness while reading a story. Dreaming of far away lands and ancient societies. Finally sleeping after craming for a history exam.

fall scents are my power. I have a secret power but can’t use it except in autumn
HALLOWEEN FLASHBACK
Lush Lord Of Misrule Perfume 3.3 fl oz

My perfume for the fifth week of this year has been a sample of Basic Witch by Xyrena. I had trouble wearing this one everyday, not because I dislike it, but just because it so perfectly expresses an idyllic fall day, that it just felt so out of season for late winter. All I wanted to do while wearing it was jump into leaves, drink tea, and carve pumpkins! Also let's take a moment to appreciate the amazing branding and aesthetics of Xyrena! I'm obsessed with all of their packaging.
My impression of the scent:
- scent from the bottle / fall spices and orange
- inital application / cinnamon, cloves, dried oranges and candy
-mid-day / warm spices
-end of the day / no scent
From Xyrena
Xyrena set out to create the definitive celebratory fragrance for basic “witches” everywhere, but in an ironic twist of fate their olfactory basic starter-kit mashup is anything but #basic. Notes include pumpkin spice latte, pages from a worn-out Nicholas Sparks paperback, boxed merlot, suede Ugg’s, fresh artisan bagel (obvi gluten-free), cold-pressed kale juice, vanilla froyo, velour tracksuit fabric, Sunday Funday mimosa, nail art lacquer, and fresh cut grass from Coachella that’ll have every Basic Witch hashtagging #TakeMeBack!
