I do think it will be interesting to see if the people who talk all the time incessantly about “representation” (aka like half of Tumblr) give Brilliant Minds a fair chance or not. The lead is gay and that’s established halfway through the first episode. Are there any other primetime network dramas with a gay lead at all? Not one or two amongst an ensemble, but THE main character? Played by an out gay actor?
Because especially after everything this summer with fandom’s reaction to an actually gay side character, I really have started to think that fans don’t actually care about representation even half as much as they claim, they just want the validation of their pet theory coming true.
It’s already started with Rescue Hi Surf, another show I’m enjoying, and who knows what’s in store there but it is perhaps telling. The shows aren’t really comparable, but the fan reaction may be, with a little more time. Because it really seems sometimes that shipping is almost like a gambling addiction. Placing bets and the high of “winning” tend to outweigh sure things.
So it will be interesting to me to see what happens with the network TV lineup in regard to whether they develop fandoms and who and why.
Girls, if you're gearing up for your 205th viewing of Gilmore Girls this coming fall, may I recommend Felicity instead (or in addition to)?
I think they have somewhat similar vibes to them for autumn: north east, sweaters/leather jackets, collegiate, they work in a cafe, the boys are cute, etc.
Can anyone give autumn/fall movies and tv shows that aren't white?
Anyone think of ones other than Twitches, Sinners, The Invitation, The Haunted Mansion, and Interview with the Vampire?
@ilovetheriddler OH BOY!!! These are the new shows I’ve been watching. I’ll spare you the season reviews for the continuing shows lol
