May have to rewatch this a second time to deeply analyze a few things but the first episode of the anime adaption of Land of the Lustrous is not bad. The animation, although spotty at some points, is beautiful. I love the camera work during the scene where the redhead gem person confronted the ocean of gold..whatever the fuck those things are. Speaking of the redhead character, I'm loving how she's struggling to come to terms with her existence and their desire to be wanted. Inuyashiki. What a straight feels trip. 10/10 first episode across the board. I wanted to slap the shit out of dude's kids for treating him like shit. I wanted to slap the shit outta those kids who were harassing the homeless man. The end were Inuyakishi started breaking down crying that he finally rememebr what emotions and feelings are after he saved the homeless dude got to me. Peep this screenshot from Just Because! real quick. The name of the song the band plays during Eita and Haruto's one-on-one baseball game is called "In Unison", right? Ya noticed how incredibly fitting the title of this song is? The strong, brass fanfare music the band builds up as Eita and Haruto get into their friendly match transitions light strings as Eita pitches Haruto a home run, the animation of each character's action and emotion went with whatever they were doing at the time.
