               david’s   smile   is   infectious   ,   blue   eyes   exuding   affection   towards   his   partner .   it’s   an   innocent   love   —   one   that   needed   to   be   cherished   ,   protected .   one   that   he   hadn’t   felt   in   …   too   long   .   if   at   all .   this   place   ,   this   room   :   it   was   theirs   and   only   theirs .   something   that   they   could   truly   keep   to   themselves .                 he’s   sitting   on   the   bed   ,   wearing   a   plain   white   shirt   with   white   sweatpants   ,   with   a   white   guitar   in   his   hands .   “   i   ,   uhm   ,   haven’t   played   in   a   while   ,   but .   ”   an   awkward   chuckle   as   he   familiarizes   his   fingers   with   the   metal   strings .   “   i   think   i   still   got   the   hang   of   it .   ”   he   strums   random   chords   in   the   midst   of   it   before   beginning   beginning   to   pluck   a   simple   tune .   

               “   words   are   flowing   out   like   endless   rain   into   a   paper   cup   ,   ”   he   sings   in   a   hushed   voice   ,   the   melody   bouncing   off   his   tongue   effortlessly   ,   “   they   slither   while   they   pass   ,   they   slip   away   across   the   universe .   ”   eyes   close   as   he   loses   himself   in   the   hypnotic   fluidity   of   sound   ,   “   pools   of   sorrow   ,   waves   of   joy   ,   are   drifting   through   my   open   mind   ,   possessing   and   caressing   me .   ”   brows   furrow   in   focus   as   he   continues   to   recall   the   lyrics .   “   nothing’s   gonna   change   my   world   …   nothing’s   gonna   change   my   world   ,   ”   eyes   open   at   that   ,   a   boyish   smile   growing   on   pink   lips .   “   nothing’s   gonna   change   my   world .   ”

it’s such a privilege every time syd lets him in. and david is new to this, new to leaving his body behind, new to becoming a thoughtform, something less and more than david-- but when syd opens her mind for him, he scrambles and dives in like he’s been doing it his whole life. he turns into a flood and then a tsunami-- and then he crashes with pure delight against the rocky formation of syd’s mind. the impact doesn’t faze her because that’s how she knows him, he’s overwhelming, he’s suffocating, but she can handle him. syd, he breathes while breaking all over her, syd, i’m here. it’s better than touch, this way he can press his entire self against her and the IDEA OF BEING SYD. 

and the idea of syd feels like the eye of a storm. havoc outside, silence inside. he falls through it, going deeper. syd, syd, syd, he breathes. david feels her amusement, her calmness and her love. her man, that’s him. she’s thinking about him. he closes his eyes and stops falling. syd’s presence breaks his frantic momentum and closes over him like protective hands. and david should feel small-- but he doesn’t. he feels wanted. 

take a moment. don’t get lost, baby.

david opens his eyes and breaks the surface. it doesn’t make sense that he’s suddenly in the middle of a freezing lake but he doesn’t care. syd is waiting for him at the grassy shore with that tiny smile hiding in the corners of her mouth. david breaks the speed record for waddling in water as he makes her way to her. this isn’t real, he knows. but as he grabs her hand and pulls her down to the ground, pressing lips against her neck, he also knows this is better than real.

Cinder: "World domination."

Ruby: " Cinder! We agreed you'd stop being evil if I-"

Cinder: "Oh but my Rose, you are my world~"
