Hey guys! I feel like I haven’t talked to you guys in forever! Lately, I’ve been focused on my school work. School comes first for me & I hope you all understand, but I’m super happy to be back! Anyway in today’s post, I wanted to talk about some annoying moments with food. I have so many annoying moments with food that I sometimes want to just strangle food. Then, I remember I need food to live so that’s what stops from doing it every time. Haha!
The first annoying moment I came up with is when you are biting into what you thought was a chocolate chip cookie but then you taste raisins instead of chocolate chips. I feel like the oatmeal raisin cookies are like, “HAHA JOKES ON YOU SUCKER!”
The second annoying moment I came up with is when you have a fruit salad. You know those days when you really want a fruit salad and you’re all excited about it. You are looking forward to seeing this beautiful rainbow of fruits in your bowl, but that doesn’t happen. No instead, you find out that 99.9% of the salad is honeydew melon & stupid cantaloupe. STUPID CANTALOUPE & HONEYDEW MELON! WHO WOULD DO SUCH A CRUEL THING?! I absolutely hate when this happens and it honestly makes me so sad. I paid for a variety of fruit not a bowl of cantaloupe and melon.
The next annoying moment I came up with is when you are shaking a ketchup bottle before you use it to avoid getting ketchup water or whatever you call it, but you get some anyway. This honestly grosses me out so much & it makes me want to never ever have ketchup again in life every single time this happens to me. I like stay away from ketchup for a while. I’m like 100% serious!
Another annoying moment I came up with is when you are chewing food and accidentally bite the inside of you cheek or your tongue. If I had a dollar for every time this has happened to me......(insert laugh). This happens to me so much & it hurts like crazy since I bite down my cheek or tongue really hard.
This last annoying moment I came up with is when you have soup, coffee or tea and you think you’ve waited long enough for it to cool down but instead you burn the roof of your mouth or if you’re like me you burn the roof of your mouth and your tongue. This is the absolute worst & makes my tongue or the roof of my mouth feel weird. Haha!

Bye guys :)
Hey guys! This post is the kickoff to my #FallingWithVal series! Today, I wanted to do something that was a little different from what I usually post. In honor of fall, I thought it would be fun & interesting to talk about some of the fall foods that I think are hard to eat. If you all agree with anything I mentioned in this post, be sure to give it a like! Without further ado, let’s just get right into the post! I feel like I’ve written the word “post” at least 50 million times haha! Anyway, let’s get started!
The first food I came up with was caramel apples. Even though I’m not a fan of caramel apples, they are one of the first things that come to mind if someone says fall. They make the perfect fall snack, but they can be super messy. If people wanted caramel up their nose, they would put it up there themselves.
The second food I came up with was soup. Soup is a very good thing especially since it’s starting to get colder outside, but I hate when the following happens: When your eating certain soups (like vegetable noodle soups, etc) and it takes fourscore and seven years to get a spoonful of actual food. I don’t mind broth but I would like get a spoonful of some noodles too you know?
Speaking of soup, this relates to the next food I came up with and it’s soup dumplings. Since they look like regular dumplings, you think you would just pop them into your mouth right? WRONG! Do not pop these little vicious things into your mouth. I call them little vicious things because if you just pop them in your mouth, they will burn you. It turns out that these dumplings have a steaming broth in them which is why these can’t be eaten like regular dumplings.
The last food I came up with was a Pomegranate since pomegranates are currently in season. The pomegranate seeds feel like they are breaking your teeth. Seriously....I don’t know why but they do....
Haha! I hope you all enjoyed today’s post! If you want me to do more posts like this, then give this post a like & tell me in the comments below! If you come up with any fall foods that you find are hard to eat, be sure to also leave them in the comments below. Don’t forget to subscribe to the blog if you haven’t by clicking here. I hope you all are having a great day and I’ll see you all in my next post! Bye guys :)

Hey Vegaholics! In today's post, I thought it'd be fun to do a tag post. Since Thanksgiving it's just around the corner, I thought it would cool to do the Thanksgiving Tag. I can't believe November is almost over. Gosh, I feel like this year has gone by way too fast. Is it just me? Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this post. If you do, be sure to give this post a big like & leave a comment below too. Now, without further or due let's get into tag guys.
Question #1: What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Well my favorite side dishes that we usually have for Thanksgiving are my cornbread, my mom's collard green dish, and my grandma's candied yams. I think we are going to be trying out some new dishes for this Thanksgiving this year, so I may have some new favorites this year. You never know!
Question #2: What's your favorite Thanksgiving dessert?
Hmmmmm...I have to think about this one. Probably Apple Pie. It's funny because I used to not be a fan of Apple Pie. When I'd say I didn't want to try it or have any, I'd be given the "are you crazy" look. It was hilarious, but now I like it. Anyway, other desserts I like to have on Thanksgiving are So Delicious Dairy-Free's Cookie Dough Ice Cream (yum) & Strawberry Sorbet (double yum). I don't remember the name of the sorbet though. Wait...... yes, yes I do (I'm thinking as I'm typing LOL!). The brand is Whole Fruit. Yeah, that's name. Yep, nailed it!
Question #3: Do you just like the turkey, the sides, or both?
I don't eat turkey because I don't eat meat obviously, but even when I used to eat meat I wasn't a big fan of Thanksgiving turkey. I pick the sides because I honestly believe that as long as you have some great sides, you don't really need a turkey.
Question #4: What does your ideal Thanksgiving Outfit look like?
My ideal Thanksgiving Outfit is an outfit that's honestly warm & cozy. Like maybe a cozy sweater with jeans, my favorite boots & leg warmers (it's get very good where I live in the winter time).
Question #5: What is your best Thanksgiving memory?
One of my best Thanksgiving memories would be when we spent Thanksgiving with one of my friends' family. I had a lot of fun that year. We had Thanksgiving dinner & then we all went Black Friday shopping together afterwards (which was so exciting, but crowded & insane). I remember one of the stores we went to first was like Michaels and I was internally thinking "who honestly goes to Michaels on Black Friday?" It was hilarious because there was like no one in Michaels & it was so quiet in there. It was that type of quiet where you just want to make noise to have a little bit of noise (You guys know what I'm talking about right?). Hahaha! We also went to Walmart, which was so packed, and......I forgot the name of the other stores we went to. But yeah I'd have to say that's one of my best Thanksgiving memories.
Question #6: How many words can you make out of "GOBBLE"?
Let's see....uh....Go, Blog, Bob, Beg, Leg, Gel, Log, El, and....wait.....uh brain fart. I can't think of any other words :/
Question #7: Least favorite Thanksgiving dish?
My least favorite Thanksgiving dish is stuffing. My relationship with stuffing is a "Hi & Bye" type of relationship. My mom actually likes stuffing though. But seriously, what's so great about stuffing? I don't get it!
Question #8: Do you have any quirky Thanksgiving family traditions?
This may not be quirky, but I love playing dance games like Dance Central & Just Dance on Thanksgiving. Usually everyone else likes to play Just Dance because it's easier to play and if you have the Wii version you don't have to move that much (LOL!) while I like playing Dance Central because I think it's more fun & the dance moves on that game are really cool to me.
Question #9: Where do you and your family usually celebrate Thanksgiving?
Well, it has changed throughout the years. This year, my immediate family & I are having Thanksgiving at our house so that's cool.
Question #10: What are you most thankful for?
Well, I'm most thankful for my family, my friends, and my subscribers/supporters. I am truly thankful for each and everyone of you. I do appreciate my Valenators & Vegaholics so much & from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the love & support.
Well, that is it for today's post. What are you guys doing for Thanksgiving this year? Are you guys going Black Friday shopping? Tweet me or leave me a comment below telling me what your Thanksgiving plans are. My mom & I are still trying to decide whether we are going to do our Black Friday shopping online or offline. Decisions, Decisions haha! I also want to let you guys know that I'm going to be taking a blogcation from the blog next week due to Thanksgiving, so there won't be any new posts next week. Hey Vegaholics! Today's post is another veggication post & I will be talking/sharing tips about one of my favorite fall/winter foods, Winter Squash. Now I know you guys are like, "Val, why are you talking about Winter Squash in the month of October?" Well my friend, I'm hear to tell you that despite its name winter squash is actually in season now! Yep, winter squash is actually harvested in late summer, early fall, and can last till winter. Winter Squash is called winter squash due to it having a thick rind that allows it to keep for long periods of time unlike its, summer squash. Just a little fun fact for ya!
What makes Winter & Summer Squash different from each other?
Well, even though Summer & Winter Squash are from the same family of vegetables; the difference is that summer squash taste its best when harvested young and winter squash taste it best when harvested at full maturity.
Types of Winter Squash (just to name a few):
Kabocha Squash - This squash has a nutty, earthy flavor with a touch of sweetness. It's similar in shape and size to a buttercup squash, but the base points out and not in.
Butternut Squash - The Butternut Squash is known for its slim neck & bulbous bottom. The muted yellow-tan rind hides bright orange-yellow flesh with a relatively sweet taste. It's great as soup, pureed, and roasted.
Spaghetti Squash - If you take a fork inside of cooked spaghetti squash, you'll see how the squash got its name. By scraping the flesh, you'll get "strings" that closely resemble pasta noodles.
Acorn Squash - This squash gets its name for its acornlike shape. It's good roasted, stuffed, and as soup.
How To Choose Winter Squash
Winter Squash is pretty easy to pick. Your squash should feel heavy and it shouldn't have any soft spots.
How To Store Winter Squash
You should store your squash in a cool, dry place. Don't and I mean don't refrigerate it! At 50 degrees, some varieties of winter squash can last up to 6 months. When kept on the counter top or in your pantry, you'll want to use most varieties of winter squash within 2-3 months.
How To Prepare Winter Squash
Some winter squash should be peeled (like butternut and spaghetti), while others have edible skin (like delicata and sweet dumpling). Squash with inedible skin can either be peeled before cooking or after. Make sure that all the pulp and seeds from the squash are removed before cooking.
While you can prepare winter squash in so many ways, I prefer to have it as soup. It's super delicious and it's makes me feel all warm & cozy, which is needed during the fall & winter months. If you're out and about, you guys should definitely try Panera's Autumn Squash Soup. It's SO good!
What are you guys' favorite way to prepare winter squash? Let me know in the comments below along with what's your favorite winter squash. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
