The most frustrating part about FO76 (to me)
Aside from the technical problems, which, honestly, what the fuck, c’mon, you’ve known about your issues in this department for years Bethesdad, being self aware about it isn’t fixing your problems,
Is the fact that most of the factions teased in the game are actually good ideas!
The Responders is a faction that makes sense, and one that I’m sure would exist in multiple places across the US, plus you get that civil service aesthetic. Yet to see if Bethesda remembers that the US was actually DYSTOPIAN before the bombs dropped and that the police would have had a heavy hand in that, but even if not, it’s still a likely and somewhat engaging faction.
The Free States is another entirely likely and interesting faction! With all the paranoia and warmongering done by the US and megacorperations like Vault-Tec, plenty of folk would have prepped for the worst, and why not work together after they opened their bunkers? They’re all like minded and equipped.
Raiders are raiders, they’re always gonna be around, so creating a hierarchy and giving them a central boss makes them more engaging than they would have been normally, and sets up an interesting direction to see how they ‘fell’, as it were.
Enclave also makes sense, given their MO and the history of some of the locals in the game, especially the Hotel. You could also play on character expectations with it being so close after the war, though there’s not much character aside from yourself.
There’s 4 good factions that make sense, 2 1/2 of which are wholly original.
WHICH MAKES IT ALL THE MORE FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING WHEN YOU JUST SHOVE THE BoS IN THERE FOR NO REASON!
And at this point I feel like I’m whining fanboy™, but like, it’s really annoying to be because it’s not that hard Bethesda, you already did the hard work of making new factions!
But I know it’s just a side thing, it’s probably not gonna be official cannon, it’s just a personal gripe.
