Peridot’s Logs 2

Earth Date 07/08/2020 0600 hours, I have just finished the sleeping. The Steven insists we all get exactly eight hours of sleep; I think this is preposterous as my superior gem physiology sustains me without this “Sleep”. However not doing anything is kind of nice. I still have no memory from the day before I will playback the logs maybe that will help. The Morp exceeded parameters according to the radiation gauges built into the device, I guess I tested it then. The radiation zone apparently was much larger than initially expected, I included less enriched Uranium in the next micro explosion nodule. Perhaps this time…

Earth Date 07/08/2020 0630 Lapis is Awake now, I suppose all of them are, the explosion was heard from the bunker. The radiation zone, however, was within acceptable parameters, with a much lower radiation signature on the surroundings. Additionally, the morp to be named a micro explosion nodule velocity infuser appears to be tracking slightly to the left when launched, which should quiet the tall one and her “save the earth” attitude. I need to check on Lapis to see if she remembers anything, the logs from yesterday make it hard for me to tell what happened

Earth Date 07/08/2020 0700 Lapis is awake and in functional condition, she seems… less than amused to see me. Perhaps whatever happened hurt her yesterday, she said something about needing time to think. -sigh- she gets like that sometimes. I don’t know if I should find go find her or not. Maybe I will go speak to The Steven. The Tall one was, in fact, angry and stormed off toward my recent test sight, the clod always complaining about my morps, like she doesn’t use them…

What is…?” Bzzzttt NO NO NO, My name is Peridot, your name is The Steven, Bzzzttt “Uh Okay, um Steven?” Bzzzttt , was that so hard, Anyways I am here with the Steven, he is making me watch a strange video, apparently, the animal on this planet named the Dogcopter, is capable of flight using rotor blades that emerge from its body. Bzzzttt “Peridot it's just a tv show it's not…” Bzzzttt SHHHH CLOSE YOUR NOISE FLAPS, I AM TRYING TO SEE HOW IT WORKS. NOTE: This warrants future research.

Earth Date 07/09/2020 0030 I spent the day watching the Dogcopter, I have yet to locate a living version. More importantly, Lapis is still missing, the runt amethyst is also starting to worry. Normally Lapis is not gone this long. And just after we brought her back. The Steven told me to tell the box my feelings, I still don’t know why I should but… I guess it couldn’t hurt. I miss Lapis, I uh, she is a good lab partner and is good at figuring out the morps, and cutting the steel, and well… I guess… Nevermind, BLASTED BOX, WHY ARE YOU SUCH A CLOD. WHY AM I EVEN TALKING TO YOU… DON’T JUDGE ME…

Earth Date 07/09/2020 0100 Looks like she still isn’t back, I would sleep, but doing nothing is hard when I can’t stop worrying, I guess I could work on the photon focusers that the tall one likes so much for her “solo” missions, we all know she is crazy, only a matter of time before the sickness gets her too. I hope Lapis comes back soon… NOT THAT I MISS THE CLOD, I JUST NEED SPARE PARTS AND DON’T WISH TO BE ALONE. Peridot’s Logs 1

Earth date 7/7/2020 0600 hours, I am getting used to the weird system the Steven insists we use to “effectively communicate time” It has been three days since Lapis went missing, I would normally call her a lost cause by now, the gemtoxin should have brought the sickness… or worse. But Well I just couldn’t bring myself to write her off.

Earth date 7/7/2020 0900 hours, I am currently following a trail leading from the bunker out into the desert, gravity connectors hurt, touch stubs are tingly, I want to help Lapis, but this is insane, the sun is bright I must make a note of it. A note the Steven gave me said I should say what I have brought with me. I have the morp I have been working on, my protective body cloth, some of what the tall one calls “bug spray” and of all things a food shaped satchel that the Steven demanded I bring with. I see a glinting in the distance, It could be her.

Earth Date 7/7/2020 1200 hours, I found her. Say hi Lapis. Earth Date 7/7/2020 1815 Hours, returned to base, Lapis is hurt, I have no memory of why Did I do it? Did a human… did a gem? Either way, we have Lapis back, Brought the Steven some food, I don’t know why it likes this stuff back on the way, He fixed Lapis’ cracked Gem, mine was fine though, I just wish I could remember… Anyways… We are safe, in the bunker, protected… Peridot Out.

Friend or Foe Pt 2

Pearl and Amethyst anxiously waited to hear some kind of news about Steven. One minute everyone was planning some kind of plan for the next time they went out, the next they see him stumbling into the bunker and collapsing right in front of them. Seeing as to where he was coming from, Pearl was horrified to see he was actually outside instead of the bunker where it was safe. Pearl and Amethyst gave anxious looks to each other as the minutes ticked by. About 10 minutes later, the door to where Steven was taken through opened and out stepped Peridot and Lapis. Immediately Pearl ran in front of them, anxious to hear the news. "How is he?!" The two gems looked at each other as Peridot stepped forward. "We believe that he fainted from exhaustion according to my readings. We couldn't find any source of the toxins getting into his system." "So in other words, he'll be ok when he gets enough rest," Lapis states. Both Pearl and Amethyst sighed in relief before Pearl thought of something else and glared at the remainder of the Crystal Gems. "Who let him out?" The others looked at Pearl confused. "What?" Amethyst asks. "Who was keeping an eye on him?! I thought we agreed we wouldn't let him out of the bunker out of any circumstances!" The silence came back for a few moments before Amethyst looked back at Pearl. "Garnet said she was taking him out. Even made sure he was equipped. I didn't question it because assuming she took him with her, he would be fine. She does have future vision." "Then why did he come back in that state and just where is Garnet, Amethyst?!" Pearl squawked out in frustration and panic. A sudden tension went through the group as the question left Pearl's mouth. Garnet and Steven left the bunker together, but only Steven returned. The tension thickened the more everyone thought about it. Steven returned....but Garnet did not. The gems had a horrible feeling of what could've possibly happened.

Where is she...?

"Where is she?!" Amethyst growled, pacing around the bunker. Pearl had disappeared last night and still didn't appear. As much as Amethyst wanted to go out and set something on fire with Lapis, it was Pearl's direct order to stay inside if she wasn't there. Since Garnet's......demise....and the cause of this whole situation, Pearl took the leadership of the group into her own hands. The pale gem grew cold to the others and obviously tired. She may not show it directly but her eyes are heavy with tiredness and guilt. Lone missions became rare and in most of the cases, it was Pearl who went out, even if it risked getting her badly hurt. The bunker door slowly opened and the new leader-figure of the rests if the Crystal Gems slank in. "WHERE HAVE YOU-" Amethyst shouted only to be interrupted by Pearl throwing her backpack to the purple gem. "Group of raiders was nearby." Pearl simply replied and retreated somewhere, not listening to the yells of her fellow crystal gem. She was tired. Her sides and chest still hurt from Garnet's attack and one of the humans got lucky and managed to shot a bullet at her before meeting his demise. She turned a couple of times in the hallways, slipping into the "depths" of the bunker. She walked into a room. The room she chose to rest in was dark and quiet making a more or less okay place to rest at. Taking off her mask and unneeded clothing, Pearl flopped down sighing on the slightly worn bed that was there. She was so tired but there were so many things that kept her from resting. Responsibilities as a leader, nightmares, her injuries and most of all, guilt. Guilt for not being strong enough to prevent this from happening. There was a soft knock on the door and it opened, a young blue-haired woman standing in the doorway with a Medical kit. "Hello, Lapis. Do you need something?" Pearl asked in a tired tone and sat up, only slightly grimacing. "Amethyst told me you seem to hurt again, so I'm here to check you up since Peridot is busy with things." Lapis said in an almost monotone voice and walked in, turning on the lamp on the table before she closed the door behind herself Pearl would protest but Lapis would probably check up her wounds that Garnet left anyways and discover new ones. She didn't need her teammates more upset with her than they already were. As Pearl let Lapis patch her up more or less, she started to feel dizzy, coming in and out of a small sleep which would normally plague her and Lapis would tease her But surprisingly the Blue haired girl said: "Just sleep, I will manage to patch you up even with you out cold." At first, the new leader wanted to refuse but it quickly fell away when she felt the exhaustion fall onto her back with the weight of the earth. Making a small nod, Pearl closed her eyes and for the first time in months, she fell asleep peacefully, secure in the darkness and with Lapis' presence nearby to help with the loneliness. Finally, she slept.
